Hi and Welcome,
Your symptoms are similar to mine in that it does not sound like you have flushing and burning, but only (?) the red bumps. I don't get pustules, but I get red bumps that are itchy and hard and sometimes they clear up for a few weeks and then pop back out again. Most are around my nose and mouth area. I think you might find Finacea to be more helpful with the bumps. It is a prescription that your doctor can provide, if he agrees.
I also am going to recommend the soap that I use because yours sounds like the type of condition that could benefit. Quite by accident I was given a sample of a tree tea oil (along with lots of other oils) soap made by a soap company in Gatlinburg, TN. The soap is called Teen Clean and the website is
www.MistyMountainSoap.com (865-325-8084. I found it really helps to keep my skin clear for longer periods of time and I don't get as many bumps as I used to get. I realize that everyone's skin is different and my face is not very sensitive, so I always caution to use it only on a small area at first to be sure it does not irritate your skin. I use it once a day to clean my face. I also use the generic metrogel (same as you are using) in the AM and Finacea in the PM. This routine has really helped my skin. And I do have a trigger....chocolate. If I am careful and have only a little bit of chocolate now and then, I do okay. But, if I eat a big piece of chocolate cake or a chocolate candy bar, I will break out within a day or two. That is the only thing I have found that I can link to my bumps.
Good luck!
