So apparently Prince William has rosacea now too

Postby David Pascoe » Mon Jul 04, 2011 6:30 am

A weekend fluff piece from the Torronto Sun tells us that Prince William has rosacea. Not sure that this is a given, red cheeks rosacea does not make.

The dermatologist quoted is Dr. Riversol, who was mentioned recently in a Rosacea News item: Riversol: From idea to a Rosacea Product

Red in the face: Embarrassment, stares and discrimination plague those suffering from rosacea

The newly-hitched (and current Canadian tourist) Prince William and former US president Bill Clinton have something in common other than their first names. They join celebrities such as comedian W.C. Fields, actor Ricky Gervais and actress Sarah Michelle Geller of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame (plus 45 million people worldwide) in having a facial skin condition that is both bothersome and unsightly.

...

In fact, one of the issues that patients struggle with is not knowing which skin products to use, says Dr. Rivers. "One of the main concerns people with rosacea face is a lack of transparency in skin care ingredients. This makes it hard for them to decipher what may be irritating their skin.

Antibiotics and drugs that reduce flushing and inflammation are first-line treatments for rosacea; in severe cases laser treatments, light therapy or dermabrasion may be suggested. Cool water washes, and simple gentle skin care are the way to go. Just don't dismiss the condition or it could worsen if left untreated.

Agreed, redness and rosacea aren't necessarily the same thing, looks like somebody didn't check their facts before printing this one.

And what's this about "unsightly?" Rosacea or not, Prince William looks pretty darn good to me. :)

Cathy, I read that, too, and anyone who'd have called the late Princess Diana "unsightly" would have been just plain crazy.

So much for the "unsightly" aspect of rosacea. :)
