Seasonal photos - Dec 2007/Jan 2008

Post by Aurelia »

As promised, a thread for photos of our Christmas decorations and other pretty things we like at this time of year.

To start with, here's a shot of the centre section of our Christmas tree. It looks very, very busy, but that's because the lens flattened everything. There's more space between the decorations than you would think, eg the peacock feathers at the right are about 10 inches apart.

Anyway, I like busy trees. :D

I've no idea why the tree doesn't look richly dark green, which it is.

Kind regards,

Hi Aurelia.
This is a pic of my Provençale nativity scene. As mentioned it's smaller than my mums. I've only got over 20 characters  . She's got 100's. Mind you my three wise men haven't arrived yet. They're due on 5th January.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Probably following the Eastern Orthodox calendar.

Thanks Lisa and Aurelia,

Great to see what your decorations look like.

We don't even own a tree. We talk about it every year, but so far we haven't indulged. Maybe next year when our youngster will be 2 and half it will be the right time to decorate a tree. No proper nativity setup either. Do we fail as not being Christmassy enough - I'm worried now.

I took a couple of shots of what decorations we do have round the house. Here they are.

Snowmen are so out of context in Australia - but they are still an image of Christmas for us.

OK, ok, I just like taking photos.

Note for camera buffs: the one with the nativity tree decorations was interesting - I needed a tripod to get a decent shot: 1/2 sec at f/22, ISO 800, 50mm lens. The specular reflections are a bit distracting, not sure how to improve that bit.

Here is my tree (well abit of it anyway). It doesn't really capture how pretty it is as the flash washes it out and not using it urns it yellow and blurry.

Hi Sarah, it looks warm and cozy. Even having a fireplace seems like a novelty to me :D

What a fabulous photo! It looks utterly delightful, but from the stuff on the strollers, like the weather outside was ... er, frightful. ;)

Thanks for sharing.

Same back to you!

We use our trusty stroller rain cover a lot in the winter when it rains often. We love to stroll everywhere, rain or shine! There is a trolley down the street from our house I often stroll Jack over to. We trolley around and have all kinds of fun adventures
