I've been dealing with only my nose flushing (turning bright red and swelling). It can happen very quickly or gradually. Sometimes the inside of my nose also swells and becomes stuffy, but not always. It's most likely to happen in the evening and was happening every evening like clockwork until I found a good drug/supplement regimen. Anyway, I'm noticing a connection between the nose flushing and my sinuses and am wondering if anyone is experiencing the same thing or has any thoughts.
When I get a bad flare, I take Advil and an oral nasal decongestant. When the flushing dies down, my sinuses drain, as well. This made me wonder if sinus pressure causes the flushing. Then when I tried Rhofade (don't recommend), which constricts blood vessels where applied, my upper sinuses pounded like crazy. And when I get laser treatments on my nose (recommend), my upper sinuses throb a little afterwards. It seems like the blood vessels in my nose's skin directly affect the blood vessles in my upper sinuses (and perhaps vice versa). To be clear, I do not have a sinus infection or untreated allergies (and my regimen addresses histamine and inflammation--I treat it like MCAS).
Anyone? Someone on here talked about vasomotor rhinitis, which seems to fit, but I don't think a direct connection has been made between rosacea and vasomotor rhinitis.
Regimen: Claritin in the AM, Zyrtec in the PM, turmeric curcumin, quercetin, low histamine diet. Saline spray for stuffiness (have also experimented with NasalCrom spray). Advil and Phenylephrine for flares.
Nose Flushing and Sinus Symptoms
Re: Nose Flushing and Sinus Symptoms
My nose would turn red only when I had congestion or a cold. I primarily got Rosacea on my cheeks, forehead and chin.
Re: Nose Flushing and Sinus Symptoms
Hi, I am getting a bright red nose, which I am finding embarrassing, it is a little tender. I am also getting sores inside.
I have no idea what to do and am having to try to cover it with make up.
I don't have sinus problems.

To update:
I went to a cosmetic dermatologist and have been recieving Vbeam laser treatments for redness and broken capillaries, which have improved the situation. We've had to be fairly aggressive with my treatments and progress has been slow.
My understanding now is that leaky blood vessels can cause edema (swelling), so that's pretty much what is happening to me. Nothing is wrong with my sinuses--the inside of my nose just swells along with the rest of it. I still wake up with a swollen nose because I've been laying down for 8 hours. I sleep propped up, but it doesn't keep it from happening entirely.
I've kept up with taking Advil and an oral nasal decongestant when it starts to flare, which stops it in it's tracks. Doesn't seem to work for overnight swelling, though. Again, the laser treatments have helped so that it's not nearly as red when I wake up and it only takes a couple hours for the swelling to die down. Hope this information is helping!
