What are these blasted things, anyway?

This is the part of rosacea that can be mistaken for acne - those lumps and bumps that look like teenage acne, but are actually rosacea lesions. These symptoms can often be the easiest part of rosacea to treat. Drop in here for more information.

What are these blasted things, anyway?

I really don't understand what these papules are! I have battled them for ages so I should be used to them, but they continue to puzzle me. Recently I had several red lumps on my face and dutifully used metrogel, finacea and even a few dots of a steroid cream, now and then. Eventually they went away......I thought.......but in the last few days two have popped back up again, looking just like the old ones and in the very same places! I realize they were just hiding under the skin and waiting to reappear. Is this really what happens? I really don't understand what they are so I don't understand why they do what they do! I was not happy to see these fellows that I had already battled for 10 days. (vangry)

I do really hate this, seems that there are more important things to hate but really!!! It would seem to me that if our capillaries are broken or damaged then, where they are the most damaged is where the papules or pustules appear. Not helpful for getting rid of them I realise! I go straight to OTC cortisone for those kind of bumps, I know it is regarded as a nono ,but I don't slather my face and only use for a few days at a time.
Take care
Fanny

Thank you, fanny. I enjoy reading your posts too. You are always kind and encouraging. Sometimes I feel so badly for rosacea sufferers who post on here, especially the young ones, and wish I could just wave a magic wand and make them all have lovely skin. You are good at encouraging them to realize that they are not just their skin, that who they are and who the world sees, is so much deeper than skin. But, when you are young, this is difficult to accept. (hug2)
