Raw nuts have enzyme inhibitors, so it is recommended to soak them overnight and then bake them at a low temperature in the oven for up to 12 hours to dry them out. The fats in roasted nuts have been damaged, so this can have its own set of problems. You can buy raw nut butter, but make sure to take digestive enzymes with it. It may be that this is more a digestive issue than an actual allergy to nuts. Another thing to watch out for is whether you get organic nuts/nut butter or not. This can cause reactions, not to mention the mold in a lot of nuts (with peanuts having the highest!). Too bad it couldn't be more simple!

BTW, when I soak the nuts and then bake I don't have a reaction. Normally, I'll get a bit of a rash along my jawline and a slight stomachache.
