New Posts link

Postby Auburn » Tue Oct 27, 2009 6:01 pm

Hi David,

I just noticed that the blog interface has a, conveniently placed, "view new posts" link. Thank you! :)

Would it be feasible to add the same link to the board interface (perhaps next to "view your posts" and another one somewhere near "return to general stuff")?

Best regards.

I added a link called "View blog posts" to the top line above the forum listings - is this what you meant ?

Am open to suggestions of new easy to use links, but I'm struggling to get what and where you mean, sorry.

Sorry, David, I should've used graphics.

I don't know if other regular members do this but when I visit the RSC, I go directly to the new posts page and read all new posts. Now, when I am done reading a new post, if I'm near the top of the page, it would be practical to have a "view new post" link next to "View your posts" such as:

And, if I'm done reading a new post near the bottom of the page:

As I said, IMO, this would be practical but not really necessary so if you think it makes sense and if/when you have a minute. :)

Thanks.

I use the "View active topics" button instead.

I'm really impressed by the skills you and David display with graphics. (clapping)

I know where the smilies buttons are but that's about it. (blush)

Kind regards,

I just tried to add a view new posts link, but got confused, broke the layout so had to back out.

Perhaps for now you can just go back in your browser, or reload the bookmark ?

feeling annoyed it didn't just work for me ...

a good suggestion though.

I too use the active topics link - almost never the new topic link - interesting how we all use the forum differently.

OK, now I can think why it might not be the default option already.

The line
User Control Panel (0 new messages) • View your posts
relates to you and your login.

The line
View unanswered posts • View new posts • View blog posts • View active topics
are all searches across the whole board, and thus only appear on the Board Index page.

Buuut the other templet - subsilver has sort of solved the problem. I'll keep looking.

How's that ?

Hopefully the board is still working properly AND you have the links you suggested.

Happy navigating all !

I know! Late last night, when I clicked on a thread, all I could see was the header and the line below it where you had already added the "view new posts" link and I felt so guilty (redface). I know how tricky modifying layouts can be, even the tiniest thing can end up wasting hours of one's time... :S

Perfect! ImageImage

Thank you so very much, David. I really appreciate the effort you have put into this. (You do spoil us rotten, you know). Image

I've been computin' and internettin' :D since 1989. I think I started using graphics in 1991. Twenty years already?! Time certainly slips away... Image
