Oracea in the UK

`Systemic' is just a fancy name for tablets that you take that can affect your whole `system'. Stop in here to talk about antibiotics, accutane and other sorts of oral therapies.

Oracea in the UK

Postby binky » Sat Oct 25, 2014 1:10 pm

Having just done 12 weeks on Lymecycline, I am trying to give it a break due to thrush (not terrible but annoying). Within 10 days of coming off the pills, my face is itching a bit, and I asked my GP about trying Efracea (which I think is the UK version of Oracea??) She has not heard of it. My dermo has, but says she is not impressed with the results from patients experiences, and says that getting hold of it will be a challenge for me (not sure what she means). My GP has suggested trying a 50mg dose of Doxycycline a day to see whether this is better than the 408mg Lymecycline in terms of thrush side effects. Any advice would be welcome because I can't seem to get much joined up thinking from my medics. Taking Lymecycline every other day is bad apparently - the dermo considers it a risk for resistance.
