Burt’s Bees regimen takes on the Cetaphil skincare range

A trial supervised by Dr. Draelos, will see Burt’s Bees sensitive range take on Galderma’s powerhouse Cetaphil brand. After 4 weeks of daily usage, trialists will decide whether Cetaphil or Burt’s Bees are just as good as each other at forming a suitable skincare regime to supplement rosacea prescription treatments.

What is Burt’s Bees?

Touting that “nature has the best answers”, Burt’s Bees boast that their products contain “No petrochemicals, phthalates, parabens or sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)” and are not tested on animals. Once a small family operation, Burt’s Bees was sold to Clorox in 2007 for $USD925m.

Why compete with Cetaphil?

Galderma has succeeded in positioning their Cetaphil range as a viable option for rosacea sufferers, especially those who have discovered for themselves how important a gentle skin care regime is to beating their rosacea symptoms.

Further, Cetaphil is available globally and is a recognised brand. It would make sense that Burt’s Bees wants to achieve a comparable status to Cetaphil in the minds of rosacea sufferers.

  1. Kathryn Drouin says:

I think that Burt’s Bees may be better. I am using a natural product now called “Egyptian Magic”. It is made out of olive oil, honey, pollen. It has dramatically reduced redness and my bumps have gone down. It is a wonderful moisturizer as well. I apply it at night.

  2. samantha says:

which line worked better? I couldn’t tell by reading that article.

    • Hi Samanatha, the trial hasn’t completed yet so there are no comparison results available. If they publish the results (assuming they are positive) then I will post them here as well.

      • Barbara G. Curtis says:

        Hi David,

What is the best method of applying Rx lotions with these products? I use metro cream and Clindamycin 1%. Do I apply these before the skin products? How do you add in sunscreen to these products?

        Thanks!

        Barbara

  3. Sunshine says:

Any update on this trial? Thanks.

  4. “I’ve used BOTH brands and neither were gentle enough not to irritate my rosacea.”

“Cetaphil made my skin a million times worse – plus it still has bloody sodium lauryl sulfate in it! I don’t find it even slightly gentle.”
