First of all I am in my early 30's and I haven't much experience in anti-aging creams. I just more recently took an interest in moisturizers and eye creams after I decided to quit tanning and rather preserve my youthfulness.

I use "Visage Complexion Moisturizer" by Shielo, which I found in my salon in NYC (but its cheaper at shielo.com). I use in the morning before I put on my makeup, and then I use this at night. My skin always feels so soft, more soft than I think it ever did. I can't give any testaments on its firming or anti-wrinkle ability, but I can say it does make my skin glow and my complexion look healthier.

It has a good price compared to everything else on the market and I believe it is best to start moisturizing when you are young rather than waiting until the signs of aging have already begun. Prevention is key!

I've suffered from what i think is rosacea for about a good 7 years out of 20. I have over-sesitive skin and excema and as if thats not good enough i have horrible and i mean the worst allergies ever. I take a zyrtec everyday and i know im not suppose to but sometimes i take 2 when i feel like im about to just die of an massive allgery attack. i work about 5 days a week and i can't call in sick everytime my ski desides it wants to "punish me". I have blotches on my face at random times and if i don't have blothes that day then im extremely pale. I don't know whats going on. I went to like MILLIONS of doctors and im just so fed up with them giving me topicort cream and blah blah blah. It just flakes my skin and makes me feel EVEN WORSE. cause it ALWAYS COMES BACK. Most days i dont wear any concealer or foundations cause i don't want the red spots to attack back even worse.... So everyday when i go in for work i either look really pale, have hay fever, or have an infectious disease.... Does anyone else feel helpess?? cause i can honestly say this sucks and its so embarrassing how im only confortable to go out at night time only which is like almost never cause i end work so late that im too tired to party or what a regular teen is suppose to do! Im so frustrated. i tried all the stupid creams, oils, remedies, thousands or diet changes, nothing is working.... like omgosh. Any recommendations? .. really im getting pretty desperate now ...

I am 32 and my rosacea has gotten worse in the last 6 months and now I am on Metrogel .75%. I went in for a facial because my skin was really dry. I thought it would be good for them to remove the dead layer of skin. My facialist was young and apparently inexperienced because she started the facial by applying lactic acid to remove the dead skin cells. Lactic acid and rosacea are a bad combo! My face stung so much for the entire facial, even when she began using the calming, mild products. At first I wondered if it was the lactic acid irritating me due to my use of metrogel. From the research I did, it looks like it was just from having rosacea. I had the worst flare-up I've ever had. Bright red marks on my face - looked like a bad allergic reaction. The products they use are very important to consider in a facial as rosacea folks can't tolerate the same products everyone else can. Get someone experienced with your condition.

Lori:

I get a couple of facials per year. When booking your appointment, make sure that you ask if they are trained to help customers with rosacea. The technician that helps me has rosacea and knows what aggravates her skin so I am very confident in her.

Always make sure that if they use steam to open your pores, that it is far enough away from your face. I've found that if its about 1.5 feet away from my face I'm fine. Also make sure that if they do micro-derm that they don't use a machine. (If you're comfortable, let them use their hands). Don't be afraid to speak up if your face starts burning! Someone who performs facials is passionate about skin care and wants to help your complexion.

I will get a slight flair-up afterward (for about 20 minutes), but my skin does appear clearer and more even within a half hour or so. Plus it's really relaxing!

I wonder if a professional "facial" will aggrevate my rosacea? I am 40 and have had mild rosacea for a few years, but in the last 4 months it has worsened significantly. I usually have a facial every 4-6 months, but am waiting out of concern that it might have a detrimental effect. Can someone please advise me?
