I was diagnosed with Rosacea about 5 years ago (Im 43 now) I tried various antibiotics as well as Acutane. None of the antibiotics (oral or topical)made much differerce, the Acutane did provide some lasting benefit however it is not a drug I wanted to take indefintely. Ultimately I became aware of Flax Seed Oil as a possible remedy. I started taking 2 tablespoons of flax seed oil, (1tbsp 2x) per day 2.5 years ago. Within 1 month I began noticing less redness and irriation in my face. The effect has continued and now my face in 80% better than it was when I started with the flax seed oil. I found the flax seed capsules not as effective as the oil itself. Ive also noticed tea tree oil used topically works very well. I wash my face twice a day with Cetaphil or something similar. I also mix a few drops of tea tree oil with Cetaphil moisturizer 1x per day. If youre having chronic problems with your Rosacea Id highly recommend you try this regimen. It 's cheap and effective!

Hi Robert,

A good place to start with options on treating ocular symptoms is <a href="http://rosacea-support.org/treating-ocular-rosacea-from-aao.html" rel="nofollow">treating ocular rosacea</a> and also the <a href="http://rosacea-support.org/community/viewforum.php?f=20" rel="nofollow">ocular rosacea forum</a>.

Stick with your opthamologist as you want all your serious ocular symptoms to be dealt with.

I have a serious case of Roasea for a couple of months. My doctor , said is one of the worst case he has ever seen. Not knowing how it came about , we have trying few combinations , with not much luck. But , till now ,I'm on doxycycline hycllate 100 mg. twice a day. It's a generic for vibramycin. twice daily. 100 mg and a cream called econazole nitrate , 1 o/o. twice daily in effected area's of the face.My face seem to be getting a little better by the weeks. Now my big trouble , is my eyes. I have had a couple of styes on one upper eyelid ,which I removed by using warmed moistioned water and tea bags on it several times. Now the itching ,burning and swelling is the problem . With that condition the rubbing caused a injured blood visal in one fo the eyes, which only time will heal. Eye doctor, suggested I use systane ultra eye drops every 2 hours daily. for dyeness. And, another eye drop call azasite 1 drop in each eye .once a day for the swelling. Do you have any other suggestion, that will help one in need. RJW

I have been getting up in the morning with severe swelling around my eyes. It keeps getting worse every day as though the skin is tight and stretching and then it swells more after it stretches. It is horrible. I can not find any help. I have Roasea.
This is a nightmare I have lived with my whole life but recently it has gotten to the point where it is disfiguring my face.
