More on how important an alkaline body is:

An accumulation of body acids affects the bones very much as our bones are the biggest sources of alkaline minerals, which are antioxidants. These alkaline minerals or antioxidants (such as iron, zinc, copper, iodine, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, fluoride, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride) are vital to bones, organs, brain, and skin tissue life. When the pH balance becomes more "acidic" the minerals shift by the process of osmosis from the bones to the kidney and gall bladder creating very uncomfortable kidney stones, gall stones, or "bone stones".

Demodex mites find a better host environment in the rosacea patient with a low immune system. The demodex mite , is provided a host environment that is warm and with plenty of food in the hair follicles of the human. Reducing stress helps to reduce the oil (food) for the demodex mite.

Bones and teeth (which are just specialized bones), are composed of 70% hydroxyapatite, a mineral which includes calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, calcium fluoride, calcium hydroxide and citrate, while the remaining 30% are organic compounds of which 90 to 95% is collagen, the rest being non-collagenous proteins.

Blood cells are produced by the marrow located within our bones. An average of 2.6 million red blood cells are produced each second by the bone marrow to replace the weathered red blood cells. Our bones serve as a storage area for minerals such as calcium and phosphorus.

When an enough minerals with a pH high enough build up in the blood, it allows for a regeneration of the the bones. And the "opposite also occurs," when the supply of these minerals within the blood is low, it will be withdrawn from the bones to replenish the needs of the body organs inclusive of the brain and the skin.

Thus the visible organs of the body which are the eyes and skin and the organs of the body including the brain will make a withdrawal from the body's bone account just as you would your own financial bank account. And now you will understand that our bones are an organ not only to support us but to protect the vital internal organs and also to be a storage area for building up and withdrawals of vital nutrients & minerals as well as the production of red blood cells. You can enjoy more life and you will have plenty of life to enjoy in further years with less or no rosacea if you can imagine this.

The acidic/alkaline scale is logarithmic; meaning that each number is ten times "stronger or more potent" than the preceding number. For example, a pH of 2 is ten times more acidic than a pH of 3 and one hundred times more acidic than a pH of 4.

So you will now be able to more easily understand why a rosacea sufferer needs to minimize the acidic foods and drinks (and do it for a long time to allow damaged rosacea skin to heal) as it takes so many more alkaline foods and drinks to balance or neutralize the acids. In doing so, you will have eliminated the cause or etiology and will have found both the "cure " and the "best rosacea treatment".

Selecting the best foods to increase pH (primarily fruits and vegetables) is the most important part of balancing your Rosacea Flushing Bank Account to prevent overdraw or going into red...

From Rosacea LTD:

Those with rosacea need to be very concerned about the build up of acids in the blood stream due to the foods that we consume. We all know of our triggers such as alcohol, coffee, various medications, etc. which all have a pH below 7.0 or are termed acidic. Our objective should be to balance, buffer, or neutralize the acids with alkaline.

Always remember that rosacea is more than a red face as it affects the entire body from the brain to the intestines, and from your muscles and skin to your tongue. For a educational trial, the next time that you are very red faced, simply look into a mirror and stick out your tongue and you will quickly see that this internal muscle is more red also. You will quickly recognize that rosacea is beyond the skin, eyes, and tongue. Please do all you can do to help "combat rosacea".

Water is alkaline with a pH of about 7.3, and likewise more alkaline foods such as more "fresh vegetables" and fruits are needed which are alkaline (higher pH than 7.0).

Acidic foods and drinks are the problem with a pH of below 7.0 such as coffee at 2.2. To improve your total body and skin condition, eat and drink 90% of the alkaline foods with only 10% meats while avoiding breads, pastas, sugars, desserts, etc.

This is just a short piece from the Rosacea LTD website with interesting info on the pancreas - everything always leads back to internal problems for why we get Rosacea and how important alkalinity is.

The liver, gall bladder, kidneys , and pancreas functioning at their optimum level in all of us would be ideal. However, we will only discuss the key organ affecting rosacea which is the pancreas.

The pancreas has two functions: 1.To produce a bile containing sodium bicarbonate with a very high pH to be added to the food after it passes out of the stomach into the small intestines just as the very acidic enzyme was added in the stomach to assist in digestion or the break down of the foods consumed.

The pancreatic bile containing sodium bicarbonate enters the intestines via a duct just below the stomach to neutralizes the acidic foods and beverages from the stomach to keep the intestines from having some problems such as: irritated bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, necrotizing intestines ,psoriasis, eczema and cancer.

The second function of the pancreas is to produce insulin. Please note that both enzymes or biles produced by the pancreas are alkaline with a high pH and are very much needed for Rosacea skin health and likewise for overall good body health.

David B - thank you for your very kind response and for explaining further, which helped fill in some of the blanks.

I understand the use and heat of a dryer, but I would be very curious to know if it actually can destroy the eggs; that is usually why the infestation is hard to stop. Even pesticides can't destroy the eggs.

What about the furniture and flooring in your house? Those are always problem areas for mites of any kind.

It sounds like you understand the mite population, which means you must know that they are highly contagious, which I see very few mention, which is why I think the mites or Rosacea always gets worse if not taken care of properly.

Excellent selection of vit's David, I hope you add garlic to your list, it's one of the few that is antiparasitic and antibiotic, and I hope you consider herbs (Burdock Root or Red Clover) to purify your blood. I still think your body is too acidic and drinking orange juice and coffee confirms my concerns. The website "Rosacea LTD" explains keeping your body alkaline better than I do and states coffee is 2.2, where alkaline is 7.0 plus, just to give you an idea. Dairy intake is a detriment, especially for a compromised immune system.

Drinking distilled water for 2 weeks is excellent for pulling out impurities in your body, but long term it is actually not good because it's not alkaline enough for the body, since all the minerals have been removed.

Your osteoporosis is another sign of high inflammation in your body. I hope you start the hydrogen therapy sooner than later, I think it will help eradicate your mites better and help build up your immune system. Getting rid of the mites in a few weeks as you did the scabies is more what I would expect from the mustard mix, which is not happening. To continue a program until all eggs & cycles can be extinguished is not the same as fighting them every day, which is why I will continue to worry about you!

I'm not sure if the Omega-3 is as important as the Omega-6 - I'll try to remember where I read that.

I hope you also consider Primrose Oil, Pycnogenol, and especially alfalfa or chlorophyll.

Good luck with your website and thank you again for your reply; I completely understand if you don't want to answer my additional concerns, but at least ponder them.

The Very Best to you!

@JJ - thank you so much for your kind and sympathetic comment on my predicament.

I don't just shake out my sleeping bag. If the day is sunny, I also hang it on the wash line unzipped for 3-4 hours so that the interior catches as much direct sunlight as possible - demodex cannot handle the strong ultraviolet component in direct sunlight. This is why most crawling insects are found in dark and shady areas, and also why they hide under rocks.

I then run it through my tumble dryer on high heat for 40 minutes. I don't know if you've ever had a spider crawl into your dryer by mistake. They're baked. Demodex are mites, members of the arachnid class, and although chemically very hardy, are physically and mechanically just as easy to kill as any spider.

If 30 minutes on high heat can fill a flea, which has a really tough exoskeleton, 40 minutes can easily kill demodex quickly and with absolutely certainty because they have very thin exoskeletons.

I deliberately sought out a nylon non-weave sleeping bag because I wanted the mites to be unable to hide in the stuffing as they do with duvets and conventional fabric bedding. Yes, it gives me night sweats but I see this as a good thing because it keeps the mustard damp - and thus fully active - on my skin while I sleep.

Wandering mites accidentally dislodged from the skin into a dry, warm environment will die in a few hours as the sebaceous oil covering their bodies denatures. They absolutely NEED to live in skin to survive and breed successfully.

With regard to alkalising my body, I have to do that anyway because of my osteoporosis. So I eat lots of fruit and vegetables (some raw) daily. I also drink baking soda twice a day. My supplements are a multi vitamin/mineral (the best and most complete one on the market), a calcium/magnesium combination, Vitamin E, acidopholus, Vitamin B-Complex with added B-12, zinc, and Omega-3 fish oil. I drink only distilled water, orange juice, and two cups of instant coffee a day with a little milk. And milk also on breakfast cereal (bran).

Since I had my home externally insulated and a powerful new heating system installed, all dampness has been eradicated and the house is always warm, dry, and comfortable. So no need for a dehumidifier.

I have no bath but a shower (I personally believe baths are not truly hygienic). I intend to start an internal hydrogen peroxide program as soon as I can get the mites eradicated and the Delusional Insects website whipped into its final planned shape because of the strict timetable I need to adhere to in order to ingest H2O2 safely.

I thank you sincerely for your advice and concern, JJ. It's genuinely appreciated. But after almost three years of dealing with multiple home and skin infestations, I think I have all the angles covered with demodex.

My problem is the huge extent of my infestation due to the year-long masking effect of the fleas, bedbugs, and scabies, followed by the dermatologist's strict instructions to ignore the crawling and tickling sensations because they were "just transient itches." Over the course of almost 15 months, this, too, allowed the mites to continue to proliferate unhindered. And virtually every hair follicle and sebaceous gland I possess, from my scalp to the soles of my feet, were infested.

I don't know how many have suffered from fleas, but this whole demodex thing reminds me of the same thing. I had a very large dog so the fleas had a large "host." Flea bites made me sick, so keeping the fleas away was very important. They bite us just like they bite animals, and then that's how animals get infected with worms and then the worms destroy their health & infest on the inside, ours too. Parasites are on the increase in humans.

To get rid of fleas or any bug, a complete program needs to be carried out or the bugs win. The eggs can Not be killed until they hatch, so that's how they usually reinfest the house and animals. And fleas are everywhere, especially in grass and dirt.

I changed my dog's bedding Daily, bathed him every week and then used a flea killer spray on his whole body. They still jumped on him, the little black specks wld be in his bedding every day, but I never had an infestation because I left no rock unturned.

The same applies to us but even more so. Too many posters seem to have animals, if you are around them, they need to be de-bugged for demodex mites. Your home needs to be debugged. Dust mites are one of the worst cases of causing lung problems and allergies. I would tear out all carpet if I had the choice. Spraying your carpets and furniture should be a must. Treating your whole body is important. We already know they infest the scalp and all hair follicles if given the time.

The body can not get sick or infested if our immune system is strong, that's a fact. That's why some people get colds and other don't even when exposed to the virus.

The environment of our skin and face has to be "ripe" for the demodex to over populate. Mites are everywhere, they will never be completely erradicated; that's why it's so important to fight with our immune systems foremost.

I think our water system is faulty and checking your water for bacteria or at least purifying it, even using drops of iodine is suppose to purify your water. From traveling a lot, I was amazed at how my complexion would improve or change depending on the water and humidity level. My face has never liked humidity.

Meat and sugars make your body acidic, some fruits and most vege's make your body alkaline, that's always a good start.

Wishing all of you better success.

I don’t know how many have suffered from fleas, but this whole demodex thing reminds me of the same thing. I had a very large dog so the fleas had a large “host.” Flea bites made me sick, so keeping the fleas away was very important. They bite us just like they bite animals, and then that’s how animals get infected with worms and then the worms destroy their health & infest on the inside, ours too. Parasites are on the increase in humans.

To get rid of fleas or any bug, a complete program needs to be carried out or the bugs win. The eggs can Not be killed until they hatch, so that’s how they usually reinfest the house and animals. And fleas are everywhere, especially in grass and dirt.

I changed my dog’s bedding Daily, bathed him every week and then used a flea killer spray on his whole body.

The body can not get sick or infested if our immune system is strong, that’s a fact. That’s why some people get colds and other don’t even when exposed to the virus.

The environment of our skin and face has to be “ripe” for the demodex to over populate. Mites are everywhere, they will never be completely erradicated; that’s why it’s so important to fight with our immune systems foremost.

I think our water system is faulty and checking your water for bacteria or at least purifying it, even using drops of iodine is suppose to purify your water. From traveling a lot, I was amazed at how my complexion would improve or change depending on the water and humidity level. My face has never liked humidity.

Meat and sugars make your body acidic, some fruits and most vege’s make your body alkaline, that’s always a good start.

Wishing all of you better success.

David B.,

I'm sorry you had such bad luck with doctors, that's a disgrace to the medical profession, but sometimes it forces us to pursue healthier alternatives, so maybe that's the upside. (I've had bad luck too).

I've read some of your website and I really wish you luck on your journey especially with the mustard solution. I really feel tho that you aren't covering all corners and that's why your infestation is so severe. If you are still sleeping in a sleeping bag and only shaking it out, I think your are re-infesting yourself. As long as you have been treating yourself, you should be down to zero.

It's hard to change a diet so radically, but I still think it's key to treating the problem inside and out. I know you are drinking borax, but if your body is not alkaline and healthy, I think it only kills some and then you start the cycle all over again. I think your environment needs to be changed too. Buy a dehumidifier, something. I know you tried washing all your linens and said that didn't work; I think that's only because your body was so infested that it wasn't enough. It needs to be a complete program covering all aspects of infestation: the body, the skin, your clothes and home, especially your diet, and I don't know if you exercise to build more oxygen and health in your body. It's all important, even what kind of water you drink and most guys don't drink enough.

I feel so bad for you every time I read your posts, I really hope you try more with vit's and herbs and diet and oxygen therapy with hydrogen peroxide baths and internally. Your sleeping bag can't be complete cotton and then the skin can't breathe, so you are creating a perfect environment for all bugs to grow.

I hope this helps, I only mean to help; your's is one of the worst and longest cases I've read about.

Joanna - I'm glad you only did a small patch. It seems to take a second to ruin our skin and forever to fix it!

I posted somewhere that England & Ireland have very hi rates of Rosacea because of the humidity. Fungus infections usually start that way too from too much moisture for jock itch and athletes feet. I'm not so sure that keeping your body moist with mustard lotion is ideal, maybe for people in dry climates, they can get away with it more.

Milk and dairy always seem to be a problem and are listed in the top allergans, mostly because of the antibiotics and hormones that the cows are treated with. That goes for the meat too. It really does promote cancer and problems with the digestive tract. But it's just one of many allergans, and I think once your body has been overtaken by something like the demodex mite or any infection that your diet is super important, otherwise just like some doctors, you are only partially stopping the problem by treating only the skin.

PIcking up litmus paper to check your ph should be really helpful. Did you know if your urine isn't clear that you aren't drinking enough water? Athletes know this. Water also alkalines your body and flushes out impurities. Your body can't get sick if your properly alkaline. The ph on your face is important too. Not sure what the mustard solution is doing for the skin. It might kill the mite, but if your skin is ph imbalanced, then it will be a breeding ground for more disruption, mites and irritants and disease.

I wish you luck with the mustard solution, and cutting out dairy is always a good thing!
