Just How do you Kill Demodex Mites ?

Demodex mites and rosacea seem to be a popular, if not controversial pairing. Even there is no proven link between rosacea symptoms and the presensce of demodex mites, many rosacea sufferers are interested in eliminating demodex mites to see if your rosacea symptoms improve.

So just how can you kill them ? Demodex mites are tiny, and live naturally in everyone’s skin. They are quite difficult to kill.

Read on if you’d like to know more about how to elminate demodex mites.

demodex-mite2First of all, why would you want to eliminate them ?

There may be some new evidence that proteins from a bacteria that can be isolated from demodex mites cause an immune reaction in rosacea sufferers. I’m still not a believer in the involvement of these critters in rosacea. Just in case more evidence is found in the future, though, demodex mites are worth further understanding.

Demodex mites have a life cycle of 14-18 days.

Killing Demodex Invitro (in the test tube)

We know from the paper In vitro and in vivo killing of ocular Demodex by tea tree oil, that various oils and solutions can kill demodex mites quite quickly in the test tube.

Solution Demodex Kill Time
100% alcohol 4 minutes
50% tea tree oil 15 minutes
100% tea tree oil 4 minutes
100% carraway oil 4 minutes
100% dill weed oil 14 minutes

Note that carraway oil and dill weed oil are toxic to the eye.

Studies have also confirmed that ether, xylol, benzene, Danish (compound polysulfide ointment) ointment can kill demodex in a few minutes.

Ivermectin

Ivermectin is used in dermatology against some parasitic infestations in humans. The drug is used in the treatment of patients with different forms of scabies, human body lice, head lice, demodecicosis, et. al. Published literature includes a case study of one patient who was treated with topical permethrin and oral Ivermectin. In another case report of one patient, the papules and pustules of rosacea were difficult to treat until oral ivermectin was included in the treatment regime.

Several rosacea sufferers on the rosacea-support email group report success in treating their rosacea with Ivermectin, but the benefits were only short lived.

Ivermectin (Stromectol, Mectizan, Ivomec, Oramec, Cardomec) has been patented as a treatment for rosacea.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil is sourced from the Melaluca tree which is native to eastern Australia. Tea Tree Oil has been shown to kill demodex mites in as little as 4 minutes. External application of undiluted tea tree oil and/or at inappropriate high doses has been associated with toxicity, including death, in cats and other animals.

There is so much interest in the properties of tea tree oil that a research group has been created within the School of Biomedical, Biomolecular and Chemical Sciences at The University of Western Australia.

In a recent study, TTO was used to eliminate demodex mites living in the eyelashes of ocular rosacea sufferers. Study participants were given weekly lid scrubs with 50% tea tree oil and a daily lid scrub with a tea tree shampoo. After six weeks all 6 participants showed improvement in conjuctival irritation and inflammation.

TTO is not soluble in water, but is soluble in alcohol, but sadly that would be unsuitable for use around the eye. Tea Tree Oil can be diluted 50% in Macadamia nut oil for use around the eyes. Lid scrubs with 50% Tea Tree Oil did produce irritation in the participants but the effect was found to be minimised if care was used to avoid spilling it into the eye.

Full strength tea tree oil should never be used anywhere on the face.

Kwellada/Elimite (Permethrin)

Back in 2000, Annette Anderson advocated using Permethrin 5% on the face to eliminate the mites. Permethrin was originally used to treat scabies. She warned that getting it in your eyes burns terribly and that the instructions mention that you should not use it on your face. A few members of rosacea-support had bad reactions to using permethrin on their face, so use Permethrin with extreme care. In the U.S., 5% Permethrin (Elimite Cream) is only available by prescription.

If you are considering Permethrin in any form it would be wise to consider Dr. Linda Sy’s advice to “solicit the cooperation and supervision of their respective dermatologists, get a KOH skin scraping to establish the presence of florid demodex population … Participants try the Permethrin on a small area of face first, to determine if any immediate severe problem exists”.

Seabuckthorn Oil

Despite claims on various internet sites, I have not been able to find any published evidence that Seabuckthorn oil kills demodex mites. If you know of some evidence, please post in the comments below. In the meantime, please disregard any claims that you find that Seabuckthorn Oil kills demodex mites.

A natural approach

But I will try the alcohol solution of Boric Acid. Mike

#33289 J P on March 7, 2010 at 1:32 PM

I am once again working during the day and I am getting a lot of sunlight, so my personal experiences with the Boric Acid/Alcohol Solution can not be considered absolutely definitive.

I have noticed that the small bumps on my forehead and beside my nose have become much smaller.

I have decided to continue the application of the Boric Acid/Alcohol with the hopes that creating a hostile environment for the Demodex (demon) Mites will eliminate them once and for good.

I plan on continuing this treatment daily for at least 2 weeks beyond any noticeable activity of these Mites.

I have plenty of Boric Acid, so if they don’t depart readily, I can keep up the assault continuously for many, many years…

Hello Destiny. I am trying PJ’s Boric Acid and alcohol solution to see if it will work some. When I did I remembered making up a solution years ago with Boric Acid for my eyes when I had an infection in my eyes. I thought about you. I looked up the amounts for the solution. It is: 1 Teaspoon Boric Acid in 4 Onces of water. Boil the water and add the Boric Acid and stir until it is desolved. Let the mixture cool, and then in an eye glass soak your eyeballs with it. I hope that this might help you get rid of these annoying bugs that are in your eyes. Mike

I am now proceeding with a theory that a solution of 100% Isopropyl Alcohol (Anhydrous) & 100% Boric Acid (Anhydrous) will deliver the maximum Dehydrating effect against these Demodex Mite parasites.

I have experimented with “Salting Out” the water from the 91% Isopropyl Alcohol by dissolving Sodium Chloride (Salt) in this Alcohol. The 9% water will dissolve a much higher quantity of the Sodium Chloride and will separate from the Alcohol. The water will sink and the Alcohol will rise. Then the (near) 100% Isopropyl Alcohol can be decanted (poured off) to another container. Any Sodium Chloride that dissolves in the Alcohol will have no consequences for our purposes. 100% Isopropyl Alcohol can be found on the Internet but its cost very much outweighs the 50 cents of Sodium Chloride that I used to “Salt Out” 4 Liters of the 91% Alcohol.

I have dobbed my closed eyes with cotton saturated with this solution, and if I keep my eyes closed (even lightly) the alcohol does not sting. But if I open my eyes at all before the Alcohol has evaporated, then it will really sting harshly. (I’m glad I’m not a Demodex Mite !!!)

I have also increased the Boric Acid concentration to near the saturation level which is about 2 Tablespoons per Liter.

And I have very carefully tested this Solution inside my ears (first by using a Q-Tip) and have experienced No detrimental effects.

Lastly, I am of the belief that simpler is better and I do not want to alter my internal chemistry by ingesting any chemicals to combat an external parasite.

#33323 Destiny on March 9, 2010 at 4:09 AM

But how do you kill these mites from the inside ? It’s not only the upper eye they crawled in my eye and it feels like my eyes are exploding , so what i am trying to say is that they have to be killed from the inside but how ? I have been trough the doctor and eye doctor for 11 times now and they think i am crazy !!! I thought that boric acid was dangerous , or do you mean borax ?

I really ruined my eyes , when i put the solution with tea tree oil because they al went to a safe spot and that was the eyes .

@ england

They won’t ship to the netherlands , thats what makes it impossible . I also asked it a few times through mmy doctor but they won’t subscribe it .

#33338 J P on March 9, 2010 at 11:58 AM

Destiny –

If you think that these mites (or possibly an infection) has invaded your nasal sinus passages in back of your eyes, then using a Neti Pot (which looks like the very old style oil lamp) with 8 ounces of Saline Solution (1/2 Teaspoon of Sea Salt dissolved in 8 ounces / ¼ Liter of Water) and flushing your nasal sinuses would be a good start. This will wash out and clean your nasal sinuses.

I would next add to the above ¼ Liter Solution – 1 drop of Thyme Oil, 1 drop of Cinnamon Oil, 1 drop of Clove Oil. You might have to shake or stir to mix these Essential Oils in the Saline Solution. These Essential Oils are very concentrated and will sting your nasal / sinus passages, but they will clean these passages and destroy any infections. I sometimes use different combinations of these Oils (Thyme Oil is the best for fighting infections).

I have also used a Sea Salt Saline Solution as an eye wash using as strong a Salt Solution as I could tolerate and I have also tried a pinch of the Boric Acid in this Solution as well to help clean up the front sides of my eyes. The Demodex Mites are not able to tolerate Salt. I repeated these steps at least 4 times a day.

The 100% Isopropyl Alcohol + 100% Boric Acid as a Saturated Anhydrous Solution is the Strongest Solution that I have found to combat external Demodex Mites. This Solution can even be applied to your eyelids and eyelashes (taking care to not get any in your eyes).

I also pour a small amount of Eucalyptus Oil in a dish beside my bed, and the Eucalyptus Vapors will clear my sinuses as I sleep.

I hope this info may be of a help to you. I had these Mites very seriously attacking my eyes and I have now succeeded in my efforts to eliminate them. I am now in the (possibly final) 2 week period where I will continue these treatments until there is no noticeable Demodex Mite activity.

Dear J P ,

Thanks for you’re advice i am trying the sinus flushing as you discribed i really really hope that it wil help . Did you also feel like youŕe eyeballs will explode as due to some pressure ? Also did you feel a very very bad headache ?

My face and eyebrows are very red and i used tea tree oil on my face that went totally wrong , then i quit with everything i’ll hope that they won’t reproduce themselves a lot . Everyone has demodex mites but how can you kill the ones who are ruining youŕe life without killing the good ones ?

my eyes look like this only the red scars are deeper
http://rosacea-support.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/ocular_rosacea.jpg
do you think this will decrease ?

i am sorry for all my questions but i am desperate right now as i am 22 years and very very depressive .

I will order the boric acid and isoropyl alcohol today , do i have to clean only the eyes or my whole face ?

thanks J P

god bless you all

PS if somebody has some ivermectin i will pay you extra if needed !

#33372 Mike Marca on March 10, 2010 at 1:13 AM

Hello again. Oh JP, my mixture seems to work better than yours. But, I will still give it a work out. Mike

#33375 Mike Marca on March 10, 2010 at 1:22 AM

What seems to work best to kill them in an area where they are well entrenched is to soak them (cloth or paper towel) in 91% alcohol for 10 minutes or longer. Be careful not to lift up the skin in the process. Mike

#33407 J P on March 10, 2010 at 9:45 AM

I am using my 100% Boric Acid/100% Alcohol Solution twice daily now.

Once on my dry scalp (in the evening), and immediately after a hot shower and quickly drying my hair (in the morning).

After the hot shower, the pores of my skin are opened and the alcohol of my Solution stings a little which indicates to me that it has reached deep into the pores. (Even though there may be some water remaining).

I am finally at a point where I can sense ultimate Victory soon.

This Solution may not work for everybody – everybody is different…

Hi!
Destiny, I do have access to Stromectol (Ivermectin) (3mg tbs.) one off dose and this depends on body weight..I will not take them myself as to the side affects..Unfortunately My country,s Custom would not allow them to be sent..Perhaps somebody somewhere does not have the same problem and could forward to you in a plain envelope.. A one of dose is all that is needed.. In my country it is used to treat strongyloidiasis an intestinal worm which can be fatal..I do hope that help for you arrives soon…God zegene niet toegeven.

#33429 pitanjara on March 10, 2010 at 1:06 PM

Hi! All,
Could someone explain why it is necessary to use alcohol as the solvent or carrier for boric acid, apart from drying time.. boric acid CRYSTALS dissolve immediately in distilled water.. This can be applied to the facial areas without the associated skin drying action of alcohol, Not Good.. It will still dry but take a little longer leaving the boric acid (BORACIC) on the skin for the mites to ingest.. Contrary to popular belief Demodex Folliclorum is not always buried deep into the follicles..They come to the surface of the skin at night anyway.. Brevis type is.

#33437 J P on March 10, 2010 at 2:18 PM

Boric Acid will attach to and bond to Water. If the Boric Acid is inside a Mite then it will pull water from the Mite’s metabolism and will dehydrate the Mite, and it has been reported that this dehydrating process disrupts the Mite’s metabolism to the point of being lethal.

Alcohol (100%) has no water and will not lessen the effectiveness of the dehydrating ability of Boric Acid.

The purity of 100% Boric Acid is evaluated by the (Anhydrous) lack of water (as 1 type of property). Many grades of Boric Acid have a rather large % of their composition composed of water. While the effectiveness of these lesser grades of Boric Acid/Water can only be evaluated on an individual basis, the purest grades can not be bettered as to their dehydrating potential and are but slightly more expensive.

I have not experienced any adverse drying of my skin by the Alcohol, but as always, everyone is different…

#33452 Destiny on March 10, 2010 at 8:25 PM

can you also use hydrogen peroxide instead of alcohol ?

#33481 J P on March 11, 2010 at 10:12 AM

Hydrogen Perixide is usually only 3% in a 97% water Solution…

So its effect would be much more like water.

#33482 J P on March 11, 2010 at 10:22 AM

At one point, I used the Petroleum Jelly IN my Eyes. Its effect is instantaneous and even though you will not be able to see, the mites will be prevented from surviving once they have been coated with the Petroleum Jelly.

The Petroleum Jelly does not hurt at all and in fact is closer to a Salve which should help heal the eyes. This should be applied at a time when you can keep your eyes closed for several hours.

Don’t be afraid to use quite a lot!

I hope this helps…….

#33502 destiny on March 11, 2010 at 2:44 PM

Dear Jp

I used you’re eye wash yesterday 3 times but they are making deep red scars in my eyes do you had that also ? And are these red lines are going away ?

#33574 J P on March 12, 2010 at 10:21 AM

The Sea Salt will redden the eyes but will not damage them.

The Petroleum Jelly is much gentler to the eyes but can be very messy.

Of these 2, I found that the Petroleum Jelly worked faster – but – I ended up covering the bed with a Plastic Sheet (Painter’s drop cloth) and I also covered the Pillows with large Plastic Trash Bags. This prevented the Petroleum Jelly from permanently staining these cloth covered articles.

These Mites can only live a couple of weeks, so your perseverance can easily defeat them. Creating an environment that is continuously adverse to their survival will exterminate them. I remember very thickly applying the Petroleum Jelly to my eyes 3 or 4 times per day for about 3 days. I could not see enough to be in public, but then these Mites were also preventing my being in public as well…

I am finding that the Saturated Solution of 100% Boric Acid (Anhydrous) in 100% Isopropyl Alcohol (Anhydrous) has eliminated the surviving Mites from my scalp, has improved my complexion (!) and has no side effects. The excess Boric Acid in my hair may well be deposited on the cloth bedding, providing yet another barrier to these Mites.

The only warning for this Solution is that the Alcohol is Highly Flamable and care should be taken to allow at least 15 minutes for it to evaporate before approaching any open Flames.

I am now virtually – ‘Demodex Mite Free’.

===============================

For those who missed my previous post –

http://www.dudadiesel.com/index.php

has the ‘Food Grade’ 100% Anhydrous Boric Acid. I don’t think that there is any purer grade than this.

I don’t have rosacea but have struggled with mites in my eyelashes for decades. Was misdiagnosed as having compulsive hair pulling — but was pulling b/c I felt the mites. Anyway, i’ve been washing my eyes (carefully) with tea tree shampoo once or twice a day for a few weeks and it seems to be working. My eyelashes are coming back and I rarely feel that “tickle” of having the mites in my eyelashes.

#33582 Mike Marca on March 13, 2010 at 6:07 AM

Hello again. I also have these mites entering my eyes at times. I used to get pink eye once a week at one point. But with what I am doing they very seldom get into my eyes to where I have to do something. I did though get pink eye a few days ago from them. What I did was to use my Boric Acid solution to drive them out, and it worked! I mixed one teaspoon of Boric Acid to four ounces of water, and boiled it until it desolved. I applied this solution to the eye with an eye glass. While soaking the eye I rolled my eyeball around a few times. I found this to be effective for me. After doing this a few times that night the pink eye went away very quickly (like overnight). Mike

Dear Jp and Others,

I do have deep red scars in my eyes i use the petrolum and the boric acid slution you described. But i theye are burrying into my eyes and destroying my eyes completely . Maybe it is easier to destroy them when you have pink eye but not when they are burrying deeper into the eyes it hurts like hell not stinging but felling them bruuying deeper holes. So when i take the solution and the petroleum they are making deeper scars because they want to run away , i ruined my eyes totally . I also can’t watch computer or tv without sunglasses becauses also then they are buurrying deeper scars in my exxyes , i hope this will go away . Also the cornea is gone at both eyes because the have destroyed it and that’swhy youhave constantly 24/7 dry , big yellowish eyes full with red deep scars, nd eveytime you want to kill them they are making more problems but when you do nothing they ar also making problems . It is really terrible and i hope this will come to an end soon , but i have no hope in doctors because i went trough eye doctor and regulars doctors 11 times the lost month .

Hey Guys,

This blog post is getting really long.

Can I tempt anyone over to the Rosacea Support Community Forum to store these discussions in an easier (and faster) to read way ?

You could try the new Demodex Mites Eradication sub forum. Feel free to start a new thread there.

Also, each person who registers for the forum can even create their very own blog to write their story and theories. See Want your own Rosacea Blog ? for info on how to do this.

Any takers ? Your thoughts would then be so much easier for others who come after you to follow.

thanks so much,
davidp.

I know that it is the mites causing my pink eyes at times, because I can feel the mites going into the eye when it happens. I also know that pinkeye can be attributed to many other things. Luckily, I rarely have pink eye anymore due to what I am doing to keep the mites at bay. I used to get pink eye once a week, but now with what I am doing I am lucky to get pink eye once in two months. Mike

Hi I’ ve not returned much as I’ ve found that since using a Neutrogena 5% coal tar shampoo for a good 5 weeks and then Thursday Plantation Tea Tree oil shampoo and conditioner daily my symptoms have greatly reduced.

Creepy crawly invisible mites that have distinct nymph and adult phase and hatching phase. Mostly found on head behind ears inside ears on face etc but whole body when at worst. They bite like a sandfly. The dot they leave only last a day or a few hours. But they wake me at night crawling in and out of ears and on face especially eyebrows and eyelashes, biting itching, nerve wracking. 4 Years. I’ m so relieved to be so symptom free. I stopped using the coal tar after reading it is toxic/carcinogenic in its higher percentage however I might just use it a few more times because it was so effective.

It seems the tea tree shampoo conditioner are keeping the nymphs down, Im very impressed. I’ ve also been swiping the creatures that I feel on my face in the middle of night with a salivated finger and that stops them, ( I eat them, tho theres nothing to taste or feel or see on my finger ) so when I can I catch them this way and rub saliva on the back of my ears, like a cat, where I know they like to hatch. I barely notice them now.It’ s just a matter of time to hatch all eggs and be free.

I might try a treatment for the rosacea once my mind is free of these minute parasites. My life is very different these past few months, I’m focussed on other things instead, phew!

Hi Needa,
Demodex mites do not jump around and infest other people as the human flea does. Demodex mites are apart of the human life and exist on just about every body’s skin including film stars and Ex Presidents like (Bill Clinton) who suffers from Rosacea. They cannot survive more than a couple of hours away from the human body. I suspect that you have an infestation of some other kind. Perhaps somebody else out there can help with your troubles. Take Care..

#35230 Mike Marca on April 4, 2010 at 6:33 AM

Hello again. I mixed Sublimed Sulphur into my mixture, and not only are the mites moving some when the mixture is applied they are dieing!!! This may well be the cat’s ass for topical treatments for rosacea and demonex. The only other thing that works better than this is Ivermectin (RX). But Ivermectin only lasts for about two months before they start multiplying again. My mixture is as follows now: 50% Teatree Oil, 40% “Best Yet” (cedarcide.com), 5% Sublimed Sulphur, and 5% PineSol. You can also add a touch of Lavender Oil and Chammonile Oil to make it smell better. I just started doing this so in a month I should know exactly how it works. I have tried almost everything out there! Hopefully, I have it down now. Mike

Hi! Some of you may find this an interesting site in NZ..
http://dermnetnz.org/acne/img/red-face/index.html

#35277 C on April 5, 2010 at 5:24 PM

Here is all the info you need to know about Demodex Mites

1) just about everyone over the age of around 10 has demodex mites, pet owners of dogs and cats will definately have them.

2) Generally they cause little or no problem if your imune system is healthy.

3) When they become problematic they can cause havoc with your skin with varying degrees and intensities of acne roscea.

4) Generally demodex only affects the face and head but in an imune supressed person it can quickly spread to other parts of the body.

5) The easiest way to determine that you are sufering from demodex mites is having acne rosea accompanied with a tickling/crawling sensation on your face and head at night this may progress to other parts of the body.

6) The life cycle of the mite is as follows. Mites lay eggs 12 hrs after becoming an Adult, Eggs take 60 hours to become a Larva, Larva take 36 hrs to become a Protontype, Protontype take 72 hrs to become a Nymph, Nymphs take 60 hrs to become an Adults. Total life cycle is 10 days.

7) Demodex come in two distinctive flavours, Demodex Folliculorum and Demodex Brevis. Upto 8 mites live in each of the hair folicules and feed on the sebum/oil. They live deep enough and build a protective membrain to be protect themselves from most agents that you can put on your body. However they do not live so deep as to come into contact with the blood suply carrying distructive white blood cells.

8) You must improve your imune system if you are to win this battle with the mites. A mega-dose (body builders strength)multivitimine taken once a day with additional Brewers Yeast taken two or three times a day should do the trick.

8) There are two distinct methods of attack for Demotex Mite infestations. You can attack the eggs and/or the adults. Obviously attacking both is the best solution.

9) To attack the eggs, grind in a pithal, 10 whole cloves into a fine powder and take this four times a day. It taste horrible and you will need a glass of water to get it to go down. But I have it on authority that as the body becomes saturated the cloves will kill Demodex eggs on contact. (Its a bit like eating whole garlic, you can eventually smell it on your skin)

10) To attack the adults there is two distinct formulas you need to make up. The first is a plain 5-7 percent Sulphur Powder mixed with a carrier oil. (I judge it by volume) Jojoba oil is the best to use as it is the closest to your natural sebum which the mites feed off but you can use any food type oil, rape seed, corn oil or olive oil or even your fabourite hand cream or body lotion as long as it is oil based. The second is a Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide mix. You take Three cups of hot water and add one cup of hydrogen peroxide to it. Then you stir in three table spoons of Borax powder. A WORD OF WARNING — DO NOT CONFUSE BORIC ACID WITH BORAX — BORIC ACID IS VERY CORROSIVE AND DANGEROUS TO USE

11) Both formulas kill ALL BREEDS OF MITES on contact.

12) The Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide formula is best for animals. Just make it up and put it into a spray bottle. Give them a normal bath and shampoo and then rinse. Let them shake themselves dry and then give a good dowsing of the Borax Solution twice a week for about 3 months. Be careful around the eyes.

13) For steralising your home use the spray bottle to spray just about everything that you have. Do your bed in the morning and leave the covers pulled back. Do your sofa, chairs soft furnishings, carpets and floors last thing at night. Dont forget to do the dogs bed as well.

14) The Borax Solution in a spray bottle can be used like a hospital hand disinfectant after you have touched your pet, squirt a little onto your hands and rub in to kill any mites that you may have picked up.

15) Now treating you and your family. Yes is one of them cases where if one is done then everyone has to be done including the pets. Bummer aint it. Have a good hot bath that contains a pint of brown vinigar in the water last thing at night. (vinigar helps to open the pours of the skin) After dripping dry a little rub in the borax or the sulphur solution. Every part of the body must be covered with the eyes being the only exception.

Drip drying is the best way of drying in this operation though you can use an electric fan to help. Sorry no towels in this operation.

16) You need to change all of your clothing and your sheets and pillow cases every single day while you are being treated.

It is best to have at least two sets of pillows so that you can alternate between them on a three day cycle.

17) Now for the bad bit. This laborious treatment is the only one that will work. You may have top continue doing it for upto 120 days. It is only when you have no symptoms for ten days that you can be sure that you are clear. Any member of the family that cuts the cure short will set the whole family back to time zero and you will have to start over again. You cannot cheat the Mites, they intend not only to suvive but to also thrive on your body. They have been doing it for thousands of years and have become experts at suviving.

Doctors remidies such as Derbac M, Permethrin and other incetacide agents will not penetrate the protective membrain they have put in the hair folicle. Ivermectin carried in the blood will not reach or affect the mites at all.

ITS YOUR DETERMINATION TO RID YOURSELF AND YOUR HOUSE OF THE MITES THAT WILL WIN IN THE END.

hi all
Thank you to all out there who have given their advice on controlling rosacea. My concern is that I wake in the morning with a red bumps that looks like an insect bite that itches like mad. They progress to hard red postules. They do not heal. I have them for several months. They develop into scabs and I think they are healing but underneath the lump seems to rejuvenate and the cycle starts again. I have very dry scaly skin on my face, forehead, chin etc. I have tried everything!! at the moment I am trialling 100% alcohol and sulphur mixed in a face cream?

Why won’t my skin heal? Even when I have a cold sore it takes months to years to heal? any suggestions?
thank you for any tips!!

I just bought the zz cream last week, kinda drys out my face, but I’ll keep using it to see if it works.

What really works for me is going to sleep with some lights on. They come out when it is dark. Although it is kinda difficult to sleep when there’s light in the room, that’s why I’m trying the zz cream.

Hello again. The mixture that I described above with the Sulfur works very good at getting rid of demonex mites that live in the eyebrows. I am just now getting my eyebrows back. Mike

This is very significant! I have never had my eyebrows back since I have had demonex along with rosacea (many years now). Even when I used Ivermectin I still had some problems with my eyebrows. You name it ZZ cream, alcohol, or a list of so many other products, these products never took care of my eyebrows. I believe that I now have something that works with my eyebrows. The same mixture without sulfur works great for just rosacea, but for the eyebrows and other areas like this I add the sulfur. But be careful with it though. It is a bit agressive. It can always be deluted with the mixture without the sulfur. Mike

Mike,

Please can you write below your formula for topical application – where to get the stuff and exactly how to put it together? I want to try this.

Can i put it in hair and eyelashes etc also?

Thanks,
Luke

i tried the zz cream for 3-4 mnths as instructed and it scarred my face leaving holes in the skin much like acne scarrs.i think this cream is to harsh for some skins and i would advise people to be very careful if they decide to use this stuff.

i think that the rosocea is a digestive /intsetine problem may be the hpylori as some believe, we all have are own theories.probiotics work wonders for me for a few weeks and then the symptoms return.alternating with different cultures and stopping probiotics for 2 weeks and then starting again does have some effect.

Hey Luke. My formula is eight entries before (#289). You can get all of the ingredients on Ebay, except for the “BestYet.” I believe that the “BestYet” is important because it contains a 90% skin penetratant that brings the mixture down to where the mites are. You can get BestYet at cedarcide.com. The formula without the sulfur works great for rosacea while the formula with the sulfur works great for attacking the mites. You also need to shake the mixture before using it. And yes, I use it for hair areas as well, except for the eyelids. When I use it for my eyebrows the mixture does to some extent work its way down to the eyelids. Any more will probably get into the eyes. It will burn the eyes. The mites will move around a lot for a day or two after applying the formula with the sulfur leaving small red pimples where they bite. After a few days as their numbers decline this will subside. I am still testing the formula on myself, but I do see a significant benefit already. My eyebrows are on the way back. The first time in over four years. And this is after I have tried may may different products, including RX.

If you haven’t tried this, try it- DIAL ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP bar on your scalp. and the rest of your body. it has to say antibacterial. I got this from another forum for smelly/itchy scalp and many people were CURED by this. they said things like, i used this for a couple weeks and all the itching etc went away. I’m only on the first day of it, i will try to post again to let you know. triclosan is an antibacterial agent, which is in dial and other soaps. it apparently gets the bacteria out of your hair, etc and the mites have nothing to thrive off of. The ppl in the forum didn’t mention demodex, they perhaps haven’t heard the term, but the symptoms they described were definetely related to demodex. i noticed dramatic results after washing my hair with dial once.
give it a try. what do you have to lose? it costs $4.

Hey Luke. I also found out that I really do need SnoSeal to seal over the formula when I sleep. You can buy it on ebay or in a leather shop. It is primarily beeswax with a petroleum product to make it paste like. The mites bite a lot more at night, and the SnoSeal seals your face and eyebrows. Otherwords, it helps to keep them out. With the formula and snoseal I am having more of a success. These mites are tough buggers. Mike
