Hey Digital Davo,

I heard that Oracea/Doxycycline could make your skin and gums dark, like brown or gray, wih prolonged use. Also heard it could turn the whites of your eyes yellow. I was wondering how often this occurs or is it a really rare side effect?

Thanks,

- David T.

Thanks David,
For your quick reply with your suggestions.
I personally feel that tinted creams/suncreen is of no use for me because of my advanced stage.
Can you advise on Name brands of creams that I could buy at my pharmacy as opposed to the expensive IPL treatment path? Or should I be requesting through my Doctor the anti-hypertensives such as Clonadine or Monoxidine/request antibiotics?
I'm doing my own research on Rosacea beacuse my Doctor is not very helpful & is the type that I have to request from him what I need or require.
BTW - Your site is invaluable with all of its information.
Thanks alot,
Vicki

Hi Vicki,

IPL is normally a very expensive treatment path, especially if you are on a fixed income. Covering up with a tinted cream or sunscreen is a cheap option that might work ok. Perhaps you can find an IPL doctor that offers a discount, but otherwise I suspect that a series of treatments will prove extremely costly.

G'day David,

Firstly - having read through the last current postings I can see that "You're On To It" & I commend you for that & all the help that you give out to others.

As to me - I have suffered for many years with the blushing, flushing & redness on my face!
My Doctor has now confirmed that I have Rosacea.

I have a very prominent 'red spot' on my face which makes me feel extremely self conscious. I'm not really sure whether to "Bite The Bullet" & go ahead with IPL treatment or to follow my Doctor's advice & just use "Creams" as I'm on a Disability Pension. Could you please advise?

Hello Jessica,

Sounds like you will be off to the best start if you can get a positive diagnosis for rosacea, especially if your flushing is leading to ocular symptoms too. The good news is that if you can catch it early and start treatments you have a better chance to seeing good results.

Hello, here's my concern:
I just turned 19, and according to all I've read about rosacea, it's extremely rare for it to develop before your early 30's.
But my skin does appear to fit the bill, it's constantly beet red even after I shower, and lately it's developed an overproduction of oil over my tzone..
My nose is perhaps, the worst, in the sense that no matter what I put on it, it always remains red and bumpy.
In addition to this, my eyes have also started burning in conjunction with my facial flushing..
It's really taking a toll on my social life... and it's becoming so hard to cope with..
I'm sick of having to rely on foundation to look even remotely normal when I step out into the world..
Can you please confirm whether I do, in fact, need to start pursuing treatment for rosacea?
(that is, before I have to go out and spend hundreds of dollars for dermatologist consultations)
thanks!

I have suffered for years with rosacea. I like most people tried almost every product at one time or another. like it has been already pointed out, what might work for me , might not work for you, but here are my top 5 products.

1. Dermarest anti-redness cream..by far the best results.
2. Medik 8 anti redness..great for broken veins&redness.
3. Skinfix. great for calming redness.
4. Zenmed serum & spray.. very good at controlling rosacea.
5. Dr. Vogel's Echinichea cream..great for healthy skin..recommended with 15Mg of Zinc a day.

Help. I have been diagnosed with rosacea. I don't know where to turn. I used the topical sulfur cream for a month and it made it worse. Now I've been using clindomyacin for 3 weeks. It's better than the sufur but still really bad. It's all around my mouth, under my nose and now branching out to my cheeks. I am so embarrased and now I am depressed. I can count the number of pimples I've had my entire life so this is really hard to deal with. I am nursing my son so I think I'm limited. I can't take anything oral until I'm done nursing. Any ideas on other topical creams to try?? My dermatologist doesn't seem to think there is anything else I can do until I stop nursing...... This consumes my every thought and don't know what else to do.

Thanks

Hi, I am 61 years old and developed Rosacea recently ( 2 years ago after was told that our son is getting married as it was a sudden decision). Can I use any antiaging cream. I used to use striVectrin and Clarince creams mainly. Does anyone have any tip? Thanks, Sandra
