anti flushing treatments?

Postby lena82 on Wed Nov 18, 2009 12:00 pm

Hi There,

I'm quite new to this and have just accepted the fact that I have Rosacea - this site has been great in helping me understand more about it. My problem is still early stages though as I only have a flushing/blushing problem with my nose - when I go from changed temperatues, drink hot drinks etc my nose turns bright red and hot (no burning, inflamation or acne), just redness. After a while it goes back to normal so it's not permanently red. It's really affecting my self esteem and confidence and I'd like to be able to get it under control.

Just reading through many of the posts on here, a lot of the treatments seem to be suitable with inflamation or acne, but I was hoping someone would be able to recommend treatment/remedies solely for the flushing/blushing (not permanent redness)?

Sorry for the ramble but thanks for reading!

Hi Lena, (wave)

For the past five months, I've been adding Omega-3 fatty acids, from fish and flaxseed, to my diet. I'm also consuming more foods containing zinc. This seems to be helping. I don't flush as often or as intensely as I used to.

Many rosaceans use Red light therapy (RLT) with good results.
Rosacea symptoms: occasional flushing, diffuse pinkness.
Treated seb derm successfully w/ raw honey and virgin coconut oil. Quit eating sugar in Apr 09.
Suplmnts: Arctic-D cod liver oil + wild Alaskan salmon oil.
Skincare: Cetaphil GSC, coconut oil.

In addition to Auburn's suggestions, you might want to read this:

Good luck.
