Anti-Candida Diet/Diatomaceous Earth

Postby Julie on Wed Sep 23, 2009 3:30 am

Hi All,

I have started another adventure to regain balance in my intestines and work on eliminating rosacea. I have been on the anti-candida diet for three weeks coupled with food grade diatomaceous earth (DE) (an important part), anti fungals (rotating GSE, Olive Leaf Extract, Garlic, and pau d'arco), milk thistle, probiotics, digestive enzymes, aloe juice and apple cider vinegar.

The first week I noticed good results especially with the help of DE which is know to fight candida and eliminate intestinal parasites. The second week I had bad die off symptoms (sluggish, poor digestion, gas, bloating, swollen glands). During this period i seemed to have stall on improvement in my skin.

I also was having a lot of trouble digesting and realized i needed more living bacteria inside of me and am now increasing probiotics and have two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before and during each meal. This has majorly improved my digestion and in turn my skin is starting to show slight improvement again. Just wanted to let people know about this approach that is slowly working for me, and see if there is anyone with any advice who has gone down a similar path. I will keep you all updated.

However, I encourage people to look into DE as it is also supposed to be helpful in eliminating mites. I make a paste with it and apply a mask on my face every three days, than follow with Olive or Jojoba Oil to moisturize. It seems like if mites are a big problem with rosacea this treatment can't hurt. I also drink a big heaping tablespoon of it in a glass of water before bed... and have noticed a clear string like fungus attached to my stools in the morning (I am thinking this is the candida as i had never seen it before). Curious if anyone else has used this stuff. Definitely look into it!

Thanks for everyone's help and determination!

Hi Julie (wave),

Just wanted to let you know that olive oil is used in labs to grow Malassezia furfur, the yeast-like fungus that causes dandruff/seb derm. Maybe not a good idea to use it on your face.
Rosacea symptoms: occasional flushing, diffuse pinkness.
Treated seb derm successfully w/ raw honey and virgin coconut oil. Quit eating sugar in Apr 09.
Suplements: Arctic-D cod liver oil + wild Alaskan salmon oil.

Mmmm...Auburn's comment about olive oil and the fungus is very interesting. I had very little redness and no papules at all...but my skin was feeling dry so I began using olive oil (my friend's 90 year old italian aunt swears by it and she has gorgeous skin). It was around then that my skin began to "break out," but since I had not been diagnosed with rosacea then, I never made a connection. Ahhhh...if I could only turn back the hands of time.

hi,

i am wondering how it is going with the DE?

i have been trying to get candida out of my system for 3+ years.
it ebbs and flows, but my sweet tooth really hurts me mostly.

everything you are doing diet and supplement wise will definitely help,
i have done all those things (oregano oil, goldenseal, probiotics, digestive enzymes, vinegar, aloe juice, cranberry, lemon and water...)
but i am just reading about DE for the first time.
do you feel like it hurts your insides at all, i am a bit hesitant reading the descriptions about how it slices open the shells of the parasites/fungus/micro-organisms.

i also had never tied together the candida with my ruddy cheeks that developed...thanks.

as for the olive oil on your face, try mixing a little evening primrose oil in a base of almond or apricot kernel oil (always use cold pressed oil and not solvent extracted)

tnt-

I am still on the anti-candida diet, about 6 weeks into it. I had to stop taking the DE because I was cleansing too strongly and i would wake up in the middle of the night with painful bowel movements. However, I plan on taking it for another ten day stretch once my digestive system is stronger and I feel like I am ready for it again. I would recommend you buy some and try it in small doses, it is cheap, and if you do not like it, it can be used in your garden or for your pets in fighting fleas.

As far as my progress I am still experiencing very slow improvements, and my condition is not getting any worse. My recent additions have proven to be the most effective, it is a probiotic called Primal Defense that contains homeostatic soil organisms. I have a friend who claims he beat candida with the aid of this product, and I have noticed its effectiveness almost immediately. Other things I think are helping my individual case is living foods (Kombucha, SauerKraut, Kimchi, ACV etc.) and rotating anti-fungals, the best for me have been garlic and GSE. I am also not totally clear whether my condition is Candida or Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), but I know that they are treated in the same way.

I would love to hear if there is anything else you did not list that has helped in the past. I will give another update in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the update! I'd be very interested in knowing what particular herbs they prescribe for you, etc. :)
