Hi Pauline and Yoli

I'd like to offer my advice on my rosacea treatment. Now I am lucky enough to have gotten my rosacea under control with a diet. I don't know if it works for everyone or if I am one of the lucky ones but just over a month ago I had a rather severe case of rosacea. My skin was an absolute mess and no matter what I did I just made it worse somehow. I've tried using using Zenmed and Rosacea care line of products and none of them helped. In fact I am sure they may have exacerbated it. I then moved on to prosacea and after using it for couple of weeks my face broke out in a rash and pimples and for the next week I could not even touch my face because of the agonising burning. That's when I decided that over the counter products are not the cure for my skin and I embarked on a mission to find an alternative treatment. I conducted a little research and came to the conclusion that the countries which have the majority of rosacea sufferers also have the worst diets. USA and other English speaking countries have per capita more overweight ,acne and rosacea sufferers than any other coutries in the world. So to me it looked like it had to be my diet that was exacerbating if not causing my rosacea. So I scoured the web for more info and found a fantastic book by Brady Barrows called "Rosacea Diet 101". The author himself a rosacea sufferer claims that his diet should show results after 4 weeks. I was second week into the diet and I started seeing improvement in my rosacea. It has been 5 weeks since I went on the diet and I must say my rosacea is hardly noticeable. In fact I'd say its almost gone.

So my advice to you ladies is to STOP squandering money on useless rosacea creams and antibiotics(like I once did) they rarely help. Try this diet and please tell me if it works for you as well.

Good luck

Thank you, Whizz-dude for your information regarding the diet. Now, my concern is that I never had Rosacea or blushed i produced my own Rosacea, i know that for a fact I used a powder that dried my skin so much and i also i scrubbed to hard with exfoliating pads that i got a rash and produced the Rosacea now i wonder if the diets would worked as well for something that my body didn't produced it on its own but i did it and believe me i hate myself for that. i could say that i never had acne or any skin problem didn't know what a dermatologist was until i did this horrible thing to myself. My skin is very dry on my forehead, etc...and i have these small little pimples that are not red but they are there and they burn, etc.....Please tell me what you think?

Hi Yoli,

Yeah I had the same sort of problem. One night I applied a little too much prosacea gel on my face and as you may know prosacea is a sulpar based product meaning that it leaves the skin very dry and flaky. So thats why I always used moituriser straight after I applied prosacea gel. Anyway that night I forgot and went to bed. The morning after I did not recognise my face in the mirror. Not only was it bright red, the forehead and cheeks were ridiculously flaky. To add insult to injury my face was burning like hell. Anyway I stop using prosacea gel(obviuosly lol) and tried to heal my damaged facial skin. I knew green tea was good for your skin so I started consuming it religiously in large quantities. Nothing crazy but at least three big mugs of green tea per day. That seemed to help a bit. So then I proceeded to do the crazy thing and actually applied the green tea directly onto my face. I put two bags of green tea and 1 bag of mint in a mug fill it up with boiling water, cover the mug with a saucer and let it steep for a while(until it is tepid or preferably cold best to apply when it is cold). Then get a tissue of some sort dip it into the potion and apply it on your face. You will feel some relief straightaway but it will take at least two days for you to see visible results.

Well IF green tea completely heals your skin(if you do not have rosacea than i am sure that will be the case) then you won't need to go on the diet.

Hope you get better soon.

wow that sounds great green tea so then I shall take it and also put it on my skin as well?? does it dry your skin because my problem is that i have tiny bumps on my skin and it feels dry. It doesn't itch and they don't go away with anything at all. Your thoughts are welcomed. Thank you.

I get really furstrated because the treatment that I am on right now it has worked at least for my cheecks, nose (around the nose area) and chin but not for my forehead that is where i feel my skin dry and when i touch it i feel these tiny bumps all around. I told my dermatologist and she told me to use Duac but that is for acne and i don't think that is going to work because that dries your skin even more and my skin is dry already i don't see the bumps as much but it feels dry. I hate to feel this way because I don't know what to do or if I am doing is right or not. I hate the fact that I had great skin and for using those products i ended up with this huge problem that i haven't been able to resolve for the past 2 years. At first the other dermatologist thought i had like an allergic reaction and they put me on cotirsone and also on Elidel which Elidel worked great but i used it for 2 years and once you stop everything comes back and really Elidel is not for Rosacea at all until this last dermatologist told me that even though it worked great for me Elidel is not good for Rosacea and at the end it can make it worse so it is very furstrating because i don't know what I have and also i went into a depression, i am afraid of taking medication, etc... I am a messed. Sorry for all this.

Yoli I would say that green tea does not dry skin(not in my experience anyway). When I put it on my face my skin was extremely dry and flaky and itchy and it helped me a great deal so it should not dry your skin.

I can't say if you have rosacea or just an allergic reaction to a skin product. It could be both. In my case it was both. Luckily I've managed to find a relatively painless way control my rosacea(I say relatively because the diet is pretty strict even though I do not follow it to the letter).

I can relate to what you are going through right now Yoli so there is no need to apologise. In fact your questions are more than welcomed. Lastly I ought to mention that if you do have rosacea then green tea could only help you to some extent. Like it will eliminate itching and reduce redness but to achieve clear rosacea-free skin you would need to go on the diet. I say give green tea a week and see the results. If you feel significantly better then you don't have rosacea. If not then try the diet.

Good luck

Yoli like I said it is best to put it on cold(not ice cold but reasonably cold) mainly because your skin is probably very sensitive right now(especially to heat) and will flush if you apply it hot. I would say leave it on for as long as you like really. But at least two times a day and for at least 20 minutes every time you do it.

The following is an extract from a website: http://neutral-izer.blogspot.com/2008/0 ... e-and.html

"Chamomile Treatments: This one of most important herbal ingredient which is known for its effectivity to assuage the severity of rosacea. The miraculous soothing effect of this home remedy efficiently alleviates the affected skin, minimizing the inflammation and some other symptoms of this skin disease. Take a handful of pure chamomile or a few chamomile tea bags and pour them in a pan containing 3 cups of boiling water. After 10 minutes separate the liquid part and keep it in freezer. Afterwards whenever you need a cold compress, dip a piece of cotton cloth in the chilled chamomile and apply it on the affected skin area until you get relief. However this treatment might impose some side effects for those patients who are allergic to ragweed."

I used to mix green tea with chamomile and it proved very effective as well. You could try it as well if you wish.

you know that sounds great, my mom always told me that chamomille was very good but i used to tell her that it dries my skin out but at the time i wasn't using any moisturizer. She said that it is very good for the inflammation just like she said that aloe vera in really fruit is very good as well to heal the skin. All i know is that my skin is very dry especially on my forehead that is the worse part like i rub my hands and it feels like very dry the only thing is that the tiny bumps are not so visible at the time. I will try mixing the green tea and the chamomille. Thank you so much and i will give it a try and let you know, I don't like the Duac but it has been only a week that i have been using it on my forehead only once per day. It just burns a little. That is one of the side effects if it continues to bother me i will let my dermatologist know. Thank you once again.

hi Yoli, i live in massachusettes, no, no,
i read to have an alkaline diet, and that tylenol, and ibuprofin are acidic, and aspirin is alkaline, and can help keepint the ph in yhour stomach alkaline, , so if you are choolsing a pain killer, take aspirin, instead of tylenol or ibuprofin,, in addition you could take a baby aspirin every day to help with keeping your stomach alkaline,, ,
on the intenet, there is a site, the rosecea diet, rosacea-ltd,, that is where i go t the diet info,,
the Lysine info, i got from several sites,, but the main one was called banish rosecacea,,
