Any Suggestions?

I just got diagnosed with rosacea. My main concern is these small hard flesh and pink and red colored bumps on my nose that never go away. I have had them for a few years now, and more and more keep popping up. It's so frusterating and embarrassing! I finaly went to the dermatologist about it and she says I have rosacea. I also have the small purple veins on my cheeks. She put me on topical metronidazole cream, which hasn't helped with the bumps. I was just wondering if anyone else has had these bumbs that don't go away, and if so, what treatments worked well for you? I have another appointment with my dermatologist coming up and I would like to know about some treatments that have worked for others for these bumps to talk about with her. Thanks.

Welcome Blueberry.
I think you mean those papules and pustules that are the plague of Rosaceans.

papule: A small, solid, usually inflammatory elevation of the skin that does not contain pus.
pustule: 1. A small inflamed elevation of the skin that is filled with pus; a pimple.
2. A small swelling similar to a blister or pimple.
3. Something likened to an inflamed, pus-filled lesion

In any case you need at least 4-6 weeks to see any results with the metrogel. If you don't get any results then you might want to change to Finacea. But I'm sure you'll get a few suggestions from other people here. I suffer from the red and flushing kind.

This thread is very good for helping you find people with similar symptoms and seeing which products worked for them.

Well there are a lot of threads on this in the 'Advice by Symptoms' section.

Thanks Lisa, is it normal for the papules to NEVER go away? I've had some of them for a few years now. But that is without treatment, I've only been on the cream for two weeks now.

I too have papules and even though it seems like they last forever, they usually go away in about 3 weeks....and new ones pop up somewhere else. Even before I started treating them, they would last 2-3 weeks and then disappear. To have them last for years is not something I am familiar with. I am finding that generic metronidazole is working well for me but before that I used a sulfur cream, then something called Ziana. It works too but is a lot more expensive than the metronidazole. The most effective treatment was Minocycline antibiotics for several months.
Good luck in finding something that helps you.

Oracea seems to be slowly making my existing papules flatter and less noticeable; hopefully they will soon be gone! But I also dab "bad" ones with a teeny tiny amount of Retin-A at night. Not nightly, just a few times, and they go away quite fast. I tried applying all over my cheek, but my skin was very pink, sensitive, and burn-y so perhaps not a great idea. (;)

Maybe my doc is wrong and I have rosacea and somthing else, because these are definatly the same ones that never went away, never moved, never got smaller. And one is very prominent on the tip of my nose and got more and more red and is now bright red and kinda bumpy itself, its kinda big.
