When will laser results be visible?

Postby peterboy on Sun Jul 04, 2010 11:21 am

Hi! Im 18 and I have just had a V-beam laser treatment about a week and a 1/2 ago. I assume its V-beam because my dermatologist called it a 'vascular laser' and all the side effects and descriptions of the treatment match. I suffer from severe flushing and only just started noticing some permanent redness. I was a good candidate for laser. My redness and swelling dissappeared 24 hours after the treatment and I had been using ice-packs during that time. Now my skin looks the same as before the treatment and my flushing is about the same, except it is slightly more controlled and not so painful. I was just wondering whether this was short term and will I be seeing better results in weeks to come? Or is it a sign I need further treatment? Your experiences and comments would be awesome!

I'm not familiar with the V-Beam (I myself had IPL), but did the doctor only recommend one session? Usually you need a few treatments, not just one.

This is a very good thread below; one of our forum members documented her treatments. Good luck and keep us posted please :)

Thanks Cathy for the reply, the link was very helpful! Yes the dermatologist did say I would need several treatments. I'm not sure how much the first treatment actually did because I didn't bruise and was basically recovered within 24 hours. I noticed a slight improvement in being able to control the flushing a little more and slightly less pain. My skin had looked clearer for a couple of weeks. Now Im entering my fifth week since my first treatment and my skin doesn't look so great. I have kind of patchy flushing because some places are paler due to where the laser had greater impact. Slowly my flushing seems to be returning to the state it was before and I have kind of relatively permanent red spots. Could anyone shed any light on what they were like after their first treatment?
