Any tips for calming down a hot face?

Postby Mike T on Tue Jul 13, 2010 8:05 pm

Hi

I've been on clonodine tablets for a while now which have reduced my tendency to blush.

Recently my dermatologist has attributed my increase in hair loss due to the tablets.

I've stopped them as of a few days ago and really notice the difference.

My face is constantly hot putting it on the brink of flushing throughout the day. Any bit of stress sets it off.

Any suggestions how to reduce this feeling that the face is on fire?

I think anything which reduces the blood flow to the face/head would accelerate my hairloss, however I am willing to try anything but Clonidine at the moment.

I do find that getting up of my seat at work and walking around reduces the heat a little.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I don't flush as severely as some, but I do have times when I can feel it coming on. I always have with me a small spritzer bottle of aloe juice & distilled water (usually about 70% to 80% aloe and the rest water). If my face starts feeling hot, I spritz. :) It does seem to help me, and also aloe is anti-angiogenic, so I figure it may help me long-term as well. Some people are sensitive to aloe, not common, but it is possible, in which case distilled or spring water might be at least a bit cooling.

Hi Mike,

I find a cooling gel mask really helps. I couldn't find the full face mask, although I think you can order it online. I bought the mask for the eyes and after putting it in the fridge I wrap it up in a dish cloth and apply to the hot spots. I find applying a little jojoba oil afterward helps as well. Also, fish oil and lots of water works wonders. Another thing I do is put my cream in the fridge.

Hope you find relief!

That must be hard, especially when at work! :-( I rarely flush, but when it's hot or I feel the zaps and tingles of a flare, I gently hold an ice pack to my cheeks for a few minutes, on and off.

Thanks for the replies.

Its not fair how non-Rosacea affected people can hide there feelings such as anger, emabrresment, nervousness, stress, anxiety etc etc however if i experience the slightest bit of the before mentioned emotions my face gives me up.

Controlling these emotions helps, however unless i am able to completely block them out full relief cant be achieved. And i don't even think that is possible, unless ofcourse you are a robot :) .
