What do y'all think of Proactiv for rosacea?

I searched the forum, but didn't find a thread, which surprised me (maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot).

In any case, have any of y'all tried Proactiv (the whole system) for your rosacea skin (particularly oily rosacea skin)? How does it measure up?

I think it might be because the spelling is 'ProActive'
Here a thread on it

I would immediately say no! It has alpha hydroxy acids and benzoyl peroxide in it, to treat acne. Usually any ingredient used to treat acne is not good for rosacea, especially these two. Another member does use benzoyl peroxide, but the norm is that it's irritating for our skin. Also, as rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition, and benzoyl peroxide is used to kill the Propionibacteria acnes, or P. acnes bacteria, I can't see how it would do much good.

That being said, there is this article available:

thanks y'all. I didn't realize it had benzoil peroxide or I wouldn't have even considered it. Bad news that stuff, even if you don't have rosacea.

Back to the drawing board, I reckon.

I agree that you should stay far away from benzoyl peroxide. My skin is fairly tolerant, and even just a whiff of BP is super irritating. Even though I've never tried ProActiv, I'd never go anywhere near the stuff if it has BP in it.

ProActive is nasty stuff. Even for its intended use, acne, it effects are debatable. Check out these MakeupAlley reviews for ProActive - http://makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp?ItemID=23657, there are over 2500 and many are negative.

I would consider going the alpha hydroxy route. I've just started experimenting with it myself, and I haven't had any irritation as long as I stay at about 4% concentration. Here are some good reviews of alpha hydroxy lotion - http://www.alphahydroxylotion.org, they list the top 5 bestsellers. http://www.Acne.org also has some relevant information.
