Rejuvelac, the easy-to-make probiotic. by Auburn on Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:56 pm
This post may be of interest to rosacea and seb derm sufferers who are also coping with gastrointestinal issues.

I learned about the benefits of water kefir just recently (thank you, Mask, for all the great advice!). I tried to find water kefir grains locally but couldn't so I wound up ordering fresh grains online from the kefirlady with great results - the grains are growing fast, healthy and produce a nice soda-like drink but I'll have to wait a few more weeks for the kefir grains to yield a half a gallon per brew.

Two weeks ago, Bellableu posted about rejuvelac (thank you, darling!) - she has a history of malabsorption leading to underweight, and went through an anti-candida treatment about a year ago. After adopting a traditional diet and adding daily raw live non-dairy fermented probiotic drinks like kombucha and rejuvelac, her digestion has improved markedly.

I don't keep my house warm enough during the winter to brew kombucha successfully. It does well in the summer but it just...

First Week Update by josmonkeys on Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:52 am
Well, my face seems to be less sensitive after a week using Metrogel. I decided to go back to the Dove facewash that I had been using, but is no longer available in my local stores. I did find it online, so I've just received the package today. Next up, see how that affects things.

On the asthma front, the Singulair seems to be having a major positive effect on my breathing. I can actually take deep breaths without coughing, which is great for choir.

One of the few cases of Rosacea in India by pallavidhar on Sat Mar 13, 2010 6:56 am
Hello,

I was diagnosed with mild Rosacea one year ago. My doc said it was mild and since I was only 25, I can prevent it from getting worse with age if I acted now..I am a fair skinned person who had a flawless glowing complexion until I started a vigorous work out 5 days in a week.. I got in shape but my face started showing symptoms of Rosacea.. After my work out, I would end up looking all Red in the face..There was and is no burning sensation or itching or even pimples ..This is how I concluded I just have mild rosacea ..My face starts to flush in the sun, cold weather and when I laugh out loud often leading to people telling me that I turned red.. It is actually funny when some parts of my face glow after a gold facial and the others are red..I was put on some oral medication and advised to use metrogel and a good sun screen. .I am refraining from using alchohol and coffee but cannot avoid going out in the sun or laughing.. ...

Just Diagnosed by josmonkeys on Wed Mar 10, 2010 4:06 pm
Well, I was just diagnosed yesterday, after spending many years explaining away my red cheeks as rosacea, based on visual appearance. About 12 years ago, I had to change facial cleanser & moisturizer due to what I thought were allergic reactions. Basically, they made my face hurt. My main symptom so far is telangectasia on both cheeks and my chin. I also have very dry itchy skin on my forehead.

I also have asthma, dust & mold allergies, hypothyroidism, migraines, and osteoarthritis in multiple locations (not strange for my age). The challenge that I see at this time, is to get my asthma & rosacea under control without aggravating anything else or each other.

Current daily meds include Advair, Claritin, Mobic, Synthroid, Depakote (for migraine prevention), calcium supplements, vitamin supplements, Maxide, & potassium. The last 2 are because my doctor thinks I have HTN. Okay, so it's high in her office, but I have several years of home readings that never make it above 110/70!...

Welcome to my blog by hunkeymonkey on Tue Mar 02, 2010 2:50 am
Here it is. Finally I'm going to document my struggles to keep the skin on my face looking normal. I've been keeping notes and have some photos I've taken so I'm going to clean them up and backdate my blog posts so you can all see and read my trials. Some of you may be familiar with "My Action Plan" forum post where I declared war on Demodex mites. For the first time I'm years I managed to get my Rosacea, Seborrheic Dermatitis and Psoriasis under control to the point that it really wasn't noticeable and I looked normal again.
Then disaster struck in late October as things suddenly flared up like crazy. It was like I'd got things back to the way things were years ago before my skin got bad, then it got bad again all over. After months of suffering and going through the same diagnosis cycle all over again
-> Some kind of reaction, Hydrocortisone treatment
-> Looks like Rosacea, metrogel treatment
-> Looks like Psoriasis, Hydrocortisone and UV treatment
Next would likely...
