rosacea and hormones by annieoakley6789 on Mon Jul 26, 2010 2:57 pm
I always suffered with slight eruptions on my skin . Right back to my teens but although at the time I thought it the end of the world and felt so ugly on reflection they were just outbreaks... I'd get spots before or during my periods and my face would just clear up when it was that time of the month again !!! I got Rosacea on the onset of my 2nd pregnancy , my daughter Sinead who is now 20 so almost 21 yrs ago !!! I didn't do much about it due to being pregnant so just suffered ! I breast fed my daughter for almost a year and then fell pregnant again and again and again !!! I had 1 pregnancy before my daughters, my son Patrick and although my face broke out slightly in the first 3 months my skin was never as good for the rest of my pregnancy and during breast feeding right up until i fell pregnant on Sinead !!

By the time my 4th child was born and after breast feeding her for 2 years I decided I would look for some help with my Rosacea !! I went down the natural road attending the Naturopathy...

MAKEOVER SITE by Kim on Sun Jul 04, 2010 2:39 pm
Found this neat site. Go to MSN, click on "Lifestyles", click on "Makeover Tool". Now you can take a picture of yourself from your shoulders up, with your hair pulled back and no makeup. Download this picture to your computer. In pink you will see, "Upload a new photo". Now you simply follow the instructions. You can apply concealer, foundation, etc. It helps you match colours to your skin. Have fun. This site has helped me choose better makeup options for hiding my rosacea.

I am 44 years old and have been diagnosed with acne rosacea for 1 month. I figured it was rosacea for a while but had it confirmed. My eyes were affected also, but the doctor did not prescribe anything for them yet. My face felt tight, my skin was thickening, flakey, and bumpy (no longer smooth), with pimple like things that were itchy or burned, very red and veins showing through.

I have sensitive skin which tends to be on the dryer side and I have a medium tone to my skin (don’t burn easy in the sun but will burn).

In the beginning the burning/itching was so bad that it felt like nothing was helping. Try something and try to stick with it for a bit.

The doctor prescribed metro gel. I did not see any results from that for 3 weeks. I started taking acidophilus, omega 3 and drinking cranberry juice. (I try to stay away from the sun, caffeine and acidic foods (ie orange juice). When I feel itching or flushing coming on, I spray my face with avene thermal spring water.

As a cleanser, I...

It's been a month, and no flare ups! by RAlfieri on Wed May 26, 2010 10:25 pm
So far so good! It's been a month now without any flare ups. This is the longest I've ever gone without having my face feel like it's on fire with burning and itching to the point of distraction. My regimen appears to be working well for me.

I did switch to the heavier Vanicream from the Vanicream Lite because the Finacea was drying my face a bit too much. Aside from that, everything is looking good. The Zino has been great for the occasional pimple. It's amazing how one or two treatements kills a pimple dead in its tracks. So simple, yet amazing.

My ocular Rosacea has been doing well with Refresh Optive eyedrops (vials). I avoid anything with preservatives. I was given a Rx of Restasis to try. It's okay, but I feel I get just as good a result with just the Refresh Optive.

I hope some of the information I've provided has helped someone.

Regards,
Rob

Finally having luck controlling my Rosacea by RAlfieri on Fri May 14, 2010 9:50 pm
Hi, everyone! I'm new to the forums. I was diagnosed with Rosacea nearly two years ago after having years of great skin. It's been a real rollercoaster ride trying to control it. Sometimes the flare-ups have been painful to the point of distraction. All the itching and burning made me want to claw my face off.

After months of trial and error, doing research on the Internet, talking to doctors, and shelling out a lot of money, I have finally found a regimen that is working well for me. My skin is nearly redness free and looks normal.

Here is my twice-daily cleansing regimen:

1. Wash with Vanicream Free & Clear face wash

2. Spray with ZenMed Nutrient Boost Spray (great for cooling your face after exercise and sun too!)

3. Apply Finacea gel. It does sting somewhat; however, the secret is to moisturize adequately after. The sting is no different than applying AHA's.

4. Apply Vanicream Lite lotion, including under eyes. Vanicream has been amazing and the wrinkles under my eyes...
