Even CNN can post a fluff rosacea article by David Pascoe on Wed Oct 14, 2009 7:02 am
What kind of fluff is this that CNN has posted ?

What can help the rosacea I've developed?

Expert answer

Dear JoAnn: Thanks for your question and comments.

Rosacea is a skin disorder most commonly found in light-complexioned people of middle age and older. Blood vessels of the face, including the nose, cheeks, eyelids and forehead dilate, giving the skin a red or rosy appearance. Flushing can be provoked by eating hot or spicy foods, drinking alcohol, temperature extremes, or even emotional reactions.

Early rosacea is just redness of the nose and cheeks. In some patients the disease progresses to include burning and stinging with skin cysts and pustular bumps. It is a chronic disease with very active periods and quiet periods. The goal of therapy should be to control it, not to cure it. The cause of rosacea is not...

My experience with Promiseb by Auburn on Wed Oct 21, 2009 4:39 pm
Back in August, David Pascoe wrote an article about Promiseb, that's how I learned about this cream. Since it's a non-steroidal cream, I asked my dermatologist for a sample which I started using just over two weeks ago.

My seb derm is very mild and I've been keeping it at bay with natural remedies but, every month, thanks to perimenopause, I will have some scalp/face itching for a few days. I also suffer from a mild case of rosacea (sporadic flushing and slight diffuse pinkness).

I wanted to try Promiseb because it's supposed to "significantly reduce redness by day 14" and to reduce Malassezia, the yeast that causes seb derm, by 94%. This cream is not for the treatment of rosacea but, since I'm lucky to suffer from both conditions , I wanted to see if it would...

A new paper titled "The pulsed-dye laser for treatment of cutaneous conditions" has just been posted to the pubmed.

Pulsed Dye Laser has been one of the mainstays for rosacea light therapy, but has take a back seat to IPL in recent years.

Rejuvelac, the easy-to-make probiotic. by Auburn on Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:56 pm
This post may be of interest to rosacea and seb derm sufferers who are also coping with gastrointestinal issues.

I learned about the benefits of water kefir just recently (thank you, Mask, for all the great advice!). I tried to find water kefir grains locally but couldn't so I wound up ordering fresh grains online from the kefirlady with great results - the grains are growing fast, healthy and produce a nice soda-like drink but I'll have to wait a few more weeks for the kefir grains to yield a half a gallon per brew.

Two weeks ago, Bellableu posted about rejuvelac (thank you, darling!) - she has a history of malabsorption leading to underweight, and went through an anti-candida treatment about a year ago. After adopting a traditional diet and adding daily raw live non-dairy fermented probiotic drinks like kombucha and rejuvelac, her digestion has improved markedly.

I don't keep my house warm enough during the winter to brew kombucha successfully. It does well in the summer but it just...

One of the few cases of Rosacea in India by pallavidhar on Sat Mar 13, 2010 6:56 am
Hello,

I was diagnosed with mild Rosacea one year ago. My doc said it was mild and since I was only 25, I can prevent it from getting worse with age if I acted now..I am a fair skinned person who had a flawless glowing complexion until I started a vigorous work out 5 days in a week.. I got in shape but my face started showing symptoms of Rosacea.. After my work out, I would end up looking all Red in the face..There was and is no burning sensation or itching or even pimples ..This is how I concluded I just have mild rosacea ..My face starts to flush in the sun, cold weather and when I laugh out loud often leading to people telling me that I turned red.. It is actually funny when some parts of my face glow after a gold facial and the others are red..I was put on some oral medication and advised to use metrogel and a good sun screen. .I am refraining from using alchohol and coffee but cannot avoid going out in the sun or laughing.. ...
