MAKEOVER SITE by Kim on Sun Jul 04, 2010 2:39 pm
Found this neat site. Go to MSN, click on "Lifestyles", click on "Makeover Tool". Now you can take a picture of yourself from your shoulders up, with your hair pulled back and no makeup. Download this picture to your computer. In pink you will see, "Upload a new photo". Now you simply follow the instructions. You can apply concealer, foundation, etc. It helps you match colours to your skin. Have fun. This site has helped me choose better makeup options for hiding my rosacea.

An example of how utterly useless a dermatologist can be. by Auburn on Thu Oct 22, 2009 5:00 am
I've been thinking of writing this post for a while now but I kept putting it off because writing about how useless a "specialized" doctor can be is such a depressing thing to do...

This doctor is the dermatologist I've been seeing for the past three years. He's in his 60s, soft spoken and has a pleasant bedside manner. Is he competent? You tell me:

One day, back in July, a spot below my left eye started to itch. I blamed it on the seb derm and tried to ignore it but it kept bothering me all day. Next day the spot was slightly inflamed so I put a bit of raw honey on it, which helped, but by night it would get itchy again. By the end of the week the itching had almost gone away but now the spot looked a little wrinkly and puffy and something seemed to be growing on it and, whatever that was, would go away after cleansing/moisturizing just to reappear next day. By day 10 I'd had enough, called the derm's office and told them I had a "growth right...

OT tips - I by Auburn on Tue Oct 27, 2009 5:40 pm
My grandma had beautiful soft hands. Her secret: used coffee grounds. (nod)

All you need is about a tablespoon's worth which you rub for a half minute or so between your hands, just like when you wash vigorously with soap, really. Rinse well with plain water (no soap) and towel dry. Your hands will smell like coffee for a little while, yes, but they will also feel amazingly smooth.

This works best with very fine (espresso) and fine coffee grounds. Be sure to rinse under rings, if you wear them.

First Week Update by josmonkeys on Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:52 am
Well, my face seems to be less sensitive after a week using Metrogel. I decided to go back to the Dove facewash that I had been using, but is no longer available in my local stores. I did find it online, so I've just received the package today. Next up, see how that affects things.

On the asthma front, the Singulair seems to be having a major positive effect on my breathing. I can actually take deep breaths without coughing, which is great for choir.

The honesty of kids by David Pascoe on Mon Oct 19, 2009 4:36 am
Number one son was sitting on my lap on the weekend.

He looked up at me and sad `Dad, what is that red dot thing on your nose ?'

As much as I didn't really want to explain it to a 3 year old, I did manage to say that it was just a pimple.

Hopefully I did it calmly enough to not make him think it was, like, you know an issue for me (;)
