Finally having luck controlling my Rosacea by RAlfieri on Fri May 14, 2010 9:50 pm
Hi, everyone! I'm new to the forums. I was diagnosed with Rosacea nearly two years ago after having years of great skin. It's been a real rollercoaster ride trying to control it. Sometimes the flare-ups have been painful to the point of distraction. All the itching and burning made me want to claw my face off.

After months of trial and error, doing research on the Internet, talking to doctors, and shelling out a lot of money, I have finally found a regimen that is working well for me. My skin is nearly redness free and looks normal.

Here is my twice-daily cleansing regimen:

1. Wash with Vanicream Free & Clear face wash

2. Spray with ZenMed Nutrient Boost Spray (great for cooling your face after exercise and sun too!)

3. Apply Finacea gel. It does sting somewhat; however, the secret is to moisturize adequately after. The sting is no different than applying AHA's.

4. Apply Vanicream Lite lotion, including under eyes. Vanicream has been amazing and the wrinkles under my eyes...

hair loss by audrpe on Fri Jan 29, 2010 8:11 pm
Years ago I was diagnosed with Rosacea by a dermatologist. He prescribed a lotion to put on my face. It never really made it much better. When the prescription ran out I just used suntan lotion. Sometimes it helps sometimes it doesn't. I have been seeing my family doctor for a great amount of hair loss. He has referred me to that dermatologist. He just wrote me a prescription for rigaine. So I went back to my doctor and told him I was not happy with what he had told me. I will see another dermatologist in about 1 week. Hair loss does not run in my family. So now I question whether this hair loss could be because of Rosacea. Has anyone ever had this problem? I would appreciate your help in this. (:|

First Week Update by josmonkeys on Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:52 am
Well, my face seems to be less sensitive after a week using Metrogel. I decided to go back to the Dove facewash that I had been using, but is no longer available in my local stores. I did find it online, so I've just received the package today. Next up, see how that affects things.

On the asthma front, the Singulair seems to be having a major positive effect on my breathing. I can actually take deep breaths without coughing, which is great for choir.

Rejuvelac, the easy-to-make probiotic. by Auburn on Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:56 pm
This post may be of interest to rosacea and seb derm sufferers who are also coping with gastrointestinal issues.

I learned about the benefits of water kefir just recently (thank you, Mask, for all the great advice!). I tried to find water kefir grains locally but couldn't so I wound up ordering fresh grains online from the kefirlady with great results - the grains are growing fast, healthy and produce a nice soda-like drink but I'll have to wait a few more weeks for the kefir grains to yield a half a gallon per brew.

Two weeks ago, Bellableu posted about rejuvelac (thank you, darling!) - she has a history of malabsorption leading to underweight, and went through an anti-candida treatment about a year ago. After adopting a traditional diet and adding daily raw live non-dairy fermented probiotic drinks like kombucha and rejuvelac, her digestion has improved markedly.

I don't keep my house warm enough during the winter to brew kombucha successfully. It does well in the summer but it just...
