rosacea is all about our intestines, apparently

After my second child was born, I developed rosacea - a reddening of the skin over and around the nose and across the cheeks. I bought expensive cream, tried foundations and concealers. Nothing worked. But the dominant theory on rosacea is that it is linked to intestinal permeability.

The right nutritional supplements, combined with avoiding triggers (spicy foods, caffeinated drinks, citrus fruits and usually alcohol), have done what no cream ever could. Today, I can go out without foundation.

LOWRI TURNER: I used to make over people's homes... now I'm doing the same for their health

Some good looking nutritional advice in this column, but not too sure about her rosacea advice.

Her lunch and dinner portions must be very small if she typically eats all of this in a day:

Lowri's menu

Breakfast: Two-egg omelette with mushrooms and feta cheese or porridge with flaked almonds

Morning snack: Apple or banana with a handful of cashews, almonds or a small bag of sunflower seeds

Lunch: Salad with steamed salmon or chicken and avocado on wholewheat bread

Afternoon snack: Mixed berries, olives and 3 oatcakes with smoked mackerel pâté

Evening: Prawn stir-fry with vegetables or chicken and vegetable kebabs with brownrice. No tea, coffee or alcohol

Guilty pleasure: Ribena light (well, it's better than my previous gallons of diet cola)

I couldn't possibly eat a two egg omelet for breakfast and then have a morning snack.

Good to know that magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant. I'll start eating a handful of cashews with dinner. :)

Thanks for the nice comment you left on my blog, David. (hug)

It might be a good thing to eat the main meal in the morning, especially if it something that will burn slowly and give you energy for many hours.

do you think a 2-egg omelette would keep you full until lunch time ?

It surely would.

I usually have a glass of milk (about 6 oz/170 ml), a small slice of whole wheat bread with butter and raw honey and a cup of coffee with a bit of cream. I really have to force myself sometimes to eat breakfast because I seem to feel much better if I don't eat anything until noon but I keep reading that one must eat at least three meals a day so...

How about you?
