My grandma had beautiful soft hands. Her secret: used coffee grounds. (nod)

All you need is about a tablespoon's worth which you rub for a half minute or so between your hands, just like when you wash vigorously with soap, really. Rinse well with plain water (no soap) and towel dry. Your hands will smell like coffee for a little while, yes, but they will also feel amazingly smooth.

This works best with very fine (espresso) and fine coffee grounds. Be sure to rinse under rings, if you wear them.

That is a really interesting tip. We have lots of coffee grounds available here as I make a freshly ground espresso every morning. Usually the grounds just go in the compost, now I have another use.

I would need to get past the coffee smell though...

I assume it works as a good exfoliator, but I wonder if there is something else in there good for the skin - caffeine ?

I think it's the oils in the coffee what leaves the skin so soft (read somewhere that used grounds contain up to 20% of oil).

If you try it, let me know what you think.

Another kitchen cupboard remedy for (dry) hands: rub in a mix of about 10 parts vinegar, 1 part water. (Obviously underpinning the skin's slightly acidic character, or whatever.)
Extremely effective, especially if you've been handling cement. Next time you put a wall up, Auburn, you know what to do..
